Bowburn Athletic FC 1 - Coxhoe United 3
The final match of the season saw Coxhoe play Bowburn Athletic for the second time in 5 days.United picked up where they left off on Tuesday with Reece Wayman opening the scoring when he collected the ball in the penalty area on 2 minutes then turned and shot with too much power for the keeper to get firm hands to it. United's second came from Jamie Appleby just before half time - a great shot from right wing whipped across the face of goal. The game was effectively put beyond Bowburn's reach in the opening moments of the second half when Alex McGrath broke free of the Athletic defence to slot it home past Bowburns keeper, making it 3. Bowburn didn't give up and clawed one back with 10 minutes left of the match with a looping a high ball, but Coxhoe battled on and were unfortunate not to score from any one of the several chances they had in the closing moments.

Coxhoe United 5 - Bowburn Athletic FC 0
With only 6 points to play for in the remainder of the season, this match was a 'must win' to consolidate Coxhoe's position in the First Division. Both teams hit the wood in the opening moments, but it was Coxhoe that scored first on 16 minutes through Curtis Bihari from a corner. There were further chances for United in the first half but the windy conditions prevented any more goals. Into the second half and a long distance shot from Cameron Holdsworth in the opening moments trickled through the Bowburn keepers legs. Cameron was on hand again shortly afterwards to pick up a loose ball on the edge of the penalty box and drive it home off the inside of the right hand post. A Holdsworth Hatrick was claimed with 15 minutes left to play after some hard work from Alex McGrath on the right wing crossing in for Cameron to strike goalwards. The fifth came 5 minutes later after Reece Wayman's cross beat the keeper and found Andrew Simpson unmarked on the goal line.

A fantastic fightback from Coxhoe saw them turn a 2-0 half time deficit into a 2-3 victory, thanks to some fingertip saves from

Coxhoe United 6 - Chester Athletic Dragons 0
An important match approaching the end of the season, with Coxhoe needing to get back into winning ways to avoid slumping down the table. United started brightly with 3 good shots in as many minutes, but opened the scoring from a Cameron Holdsworth long distance shot on 7 minutes. Andrew Simpson doubled that tally on the 13 minute mark after a through-ball beat the Dragons defence leaving him to slot the ball past the keeper. A scramble on the Chester goal line on 20 minutes finally fell to Alex McGrath to put Coxhoe 3 up going into half time. The pressure continued into the 2nd half when James Gilson added to the scoreline from a tight angle with his left foot, then a slight change in Coxhoe's traditional formation put Stephen Wadge in centre midfield for the final 10 minutes where he promptly slotted 2 home to take the Coxhoe tally to 6 without reply.

Todays match kept everyone on edge right to the end with a total of 7 goals, 4 of them in the space of 6 minutes. James Glison opened the scoring for Coxhoe on 8 minutes and Cameron Holdsworth added a second 8 minutes later. and although United had more opportunities the 2 goal advantage was all they had at half timeIn the 2nd half Deerness came out with spirit and had several good long distance shots but eventaully got off the mark after the ref waved away calls for off-side 8 minutes into the half. This opened the floodgates for another 2, meaning Deerness moved into the lead with 12 minutes left. Coxhoe retained their composure and up stepped Andrew Simpson almost immediately to grab the equaliser, then again to collect his second 2 minutes later and reclaim the lead. The last 8 minutes was a tense time but United managed to keep the ball in the Deerness half for much of the time to secure all 3 points.

Boldon Colts Panthers 2 - Coxhoe United 1
United made the perfect start in today's mid table clash when Henry Davies put in a first class cross from the left wing for James Gilson to open the scoring within 2 minutes. Bolton piled on the pressure and the united defence eventually cracked with a Panthers set piece on 20 minutes after the Referee thought he'd spotted a foul. United seemed to loose composure and Boldon grabbed the winner after an unfortunate deflection 15 minutes from time.

Coxhoe United 2 - Shotton Boys 1
Coxhoe continued their unbeaten run but things could have been different if Shotton had capitalised on chances in the 2nd half. Andrew Simpson tipped it past the Shotton keeper after 10 minutes to take the lead for Coxhoe and was unlucky not to double that tally a few minutes later when a pitch bobble took the ball from his foot as he was shooting in a 1 on 1 situation. In the 2nd half United seemed to loose their shape and concentration so Shotton seized the opportunity, equalizing and putting Coxhoe under pressure for much of the half. A formation re-shuffle allowed Jamie Appleby some freedom up front and he duly obliged with the winner 10 minutes from time.

South Tyneside Jets 3 - Coxhoe United 4
Two goals from two shots in the first 10 minutes for the Jets highlighted that United had work to do with the disadvantage of having the wind in their faces. The whole team dug deep and created many chances, being unlucky to convert only 2 of them by half time from Alex McGrath and Andrew Simpson to go into the break level. Coxhoe continued the hard work into the second half but it was South Tyneside who broke through to go one up with 15 minutes left. The importance of these 3 points to continue the ascent up the league was forefront in United's mind and a high lob from Alex McGrath & a winner from Reece Wayman sealed those points for Coxhoe

Coxhoe United 5 - Hetton Juniors 0
From the kick off, Coxhoe pushed hard but it took 10 minutes for them to open the scoring when a Jamie Appleby shot came off the cross bar into the path of the advancing Andrew Simpson who tucked it away. Three minutes later, however, Jamie was on hand on the right wing again but this time he made sure he got his name on the score sheet with a great shot rounding the Hetton keeper. Coxhoe continued to attack and Henry Davies claimed Coxhoe's third from his left wing run with 1 minute left to play in the first half.Into the second, and United proved they were just as determined to claim all 3 points and were unlucky on several occasions. Hetton produced some good attacking moves but the Coxhoe defence were equal to them. 2 more late goals for Coxhoe from Reece Wayman and Cameron Holdsworth showed that early season poor form has been left well behind.

Fulwell Juniors vs Coxhoe United
United went to todays match full of confidence after last weeks victory, but wondering if they could continue the winning streak against 4th place Fulwell sitting 14 points above them in the league. Fulwell opened the scoring after 15 minutes when their striker ran onto a high ball lobbed over the heads of the Coxhoe defence. Good play from both teams produced more chances but neither team could add to the scoreline until a goal-mouth scramble in the early minutes of the 2nd half was eventually knocked over the line by Jamie Appleby to level the score. Coxhoe got stronger throughout the whole team as the match progressed and fought hard for the 2nd goal. This eventually came mid way through the 2nd half with another from Jamie Appleby after a run up the right wing and a fine strike to beat the Fulwell keeper. Resolute defending kept the Juniors at bay for the rest of the match to secure a well earned 3 points for Coxhoe.

Houghton kicked off the game and had the first chance shooting just wide of the post . Coxhoe utd. came back well and pushed forward creating good chances for Lewis Jowett and Mason Hoyland both shooting narrowly wide. Just as the half was drawing to a close Mason Hoyland put in a great cross which landed at the feet of Lewis Jowett who smashed the ball against the bar. Houghton came out fighting in the second half and put Coxhoe under pressure, but brave goalkeeping from Nathan Hegarty and resolute defending from Mathew Whiting and Joseph Kerrigan meant the score remained level. Half way through the second half Houghton broke away and scored the first goal , Coxhoe never gave up and were justly rewarded with an equaliser after good work from Lewis Jowett who cut inside from the left and unleashed a fierce shot which the Houghton keeper saved well but the hard working Brad Bihari followed up to tap in.

A sharp wake up call for the Lions todays as right from the first whistle we were slow and looked out of sorts with Nissan dominating the game and scoring a couple of early goals, we picked up a little before half time but 2 more goals meant Nissan went in 4-0 up. A harsh half time team talk seamed to do the trick for a while as we came out in the second half and showed a little more of the batteling qualities we had seen in earlier games but a couple of goals saw heads go down and Nissan completed a comprehensive win.

The mighty Lions looked to go top of the table, for at least a few hours anyway with an early kick off against newcomers to the league Lumley Juniors. The game started fairly evenly with both sides looking to attack but it was Coxhoe who opened the scoring as the keeper failed to hold a shot and James picked up the rebound. The lead was doubled when a shot from Jamie struck the back of a defender and was deflected into the net and to top off a strong first half a mazey run from Lewis ended with a corner that Joe poked home to give us a 3-0 lead. The second half was again end to end with the Lions creating a lot of chances with McKenzie hitting the bar but Lumley did not giving up without a fight and strong defending from Cameron / Jordan and Lewis and a few fine saves from Mark kept them at bay until a consolation goal a few minutes from the end made it a nervous last few minutes.

After South Tyneside Juniors knocked the U12's out of the league cup last weekend, Coxhoe were determined not to fall to the same fate against another South Tyneside team, The Jets, this weekend. The scoring was opened by James Gilson within 2 minutes, but that advantage was wiped out 15 minutes later and the Jets went on to put some clear space between the two teams going up 3-1 shortly after. Coxhoe turned their game around and started to string some good football together, making the Jets keeper pull off some tremendous saves, but eventually forcing the Tyneside team into an error and claiming one back after a Cameron Holdsworth searching ball into the box. With only a few seconds to spare, a great run and shot from Andrew Simpson tied the game.

Consett AFC Juniors vs Coxhoe United
At last a start to the new season and we kicked off against new comers Consett, the game started off evenly with sides passing the ball about nicely and with a new formation Coxhoe grew as the game progressed. A break down the right hand side saw a shot across the keeper hit the post but the rebound was fired into the back of the net for a 1-0 nil lead at half time. The second half started as the first with both sides looking to take chances from long range until a Coxhoe corner half way thru' the half seemed to be well saved but the referee awarde a goal to Coxhoe. This spurred Consett on and they repsoned with a well taken goal to bring it back to 2-1 with a couple of minutes left and in the final minute a long range speculative shot appeared to have earned a draw for Consett but the referee again stepped in to award a free kick to Coxhoe who held on for the win. Easington Harriers v Coxhoe United
The Coxhoe boys started their Premier League campaign with a tough looking away fixture against a strong and well organised Easington Harriers team. In the first half it was Easington who did all the pressing but the Coxhoe defence held out well and it was scoreless at half time. In the second half Coxhoe started to press a little more but disaster struck 12 minutes in the half when Easington scored. It was unfortunate as there were a couple of Easington players offside but the referee was unsighted. After the goal Coxhoe came to life and started to press forward but were nearly caught out when Easington hit the post. Towards the end of the match Coxhoe's impressive new striker Mark Pickering hit a sublime shot from a narrow angle but it struck the bar, the ball then fell to James Marshall who hit a goal bound shot but the Easington goalkeeper pulled off a stunning save. The game ended with an Easington victory but the boys can be heartened by such a peformance against an excellent Easington team.

Coxhoe United v Hilda Park
The scoreline of this game does not reflect the hard work and good football that was played by all the girls on the first match of the season. In the first half Coxhoe were caught asleep for the first couple of goals while everyone got used to playing together again. Chelsea Thompson, in her first game for the club worked hard in the middle of the pitch and battled gamely. Ashleigh Stores, at left back as usual, made some very important tackles in the box. After half time the girls came out determined to show they could play attacking and passing football. Sophie Tierney and Phlin Percy made some lovely passes from midfield to Abigail Griffiths who worked hard to get them into the net. They just wouldn't go in!

Coxhoe United v Washington Juniors
What a game this was! Exitement from the word go with Coxhoe going on the attach from the whistle. Vanessa Stephenson was like lightning down the right wing and crossed a lovely ball to Sophie Thierney who shot it into the back of the net. This was followed soon after by another, almost identical goal by Sophie. Just before half time Washington got one back. In the second half Coxhoe played even better with Sophie Whiting making some fantastic runs from defence and passing to Abigail Griffiths, who was frightening the opposition with her pace. In the last ten minutes Sophie Whiting moved into midfield (her favourite position) and made a difference to our attack, adding some pace to the centre of the pitch. Goal number three came from a shot from Sohie Whiting from the half way line...and yes the ball did go in. Goal number four, again from Sophie Whiting came from a lovely cross from Abigail Griffiths which Sopie banged into the net. This should have been Coxhoe's win but Washington kept attacking and in the last few minutes scored twice from quick break through to ruin Coxhoe's dream start. However this was a great display from both teams and it shows how far Coxhoe have come on from last season. Final Score: Coxhoe United 4 Washington Juniors 4 - Goals: Sopie Thierney x 2, Sopie Whiting x 2 -
