O n a very cold morning the girls woke up late on the pitch and by the time they had realised what was happening we were several goals down . Swallwell are a very good team with a strong couple of strikers who always seemed to score every time they touched the ball . However, at half time we had a group wake up session and the girls went back on fighting . We never managed to score but Abigail ,Katie and Sophie all had a good go . We must practice more at training to get the balls in the back of the net!!!!!!!
Final Score - Coxhoe United 0 Swalwell Juniors 8
Again we were caught asleep and Blaydon soon had 3 goals passed us , which upset the girls as we had beaten them last game . However , they never dropped their heads and how we didnt score l just dont know . Everyone expect Bethany Beecham in goal made runs up the pitch . Sophie went up so many times that Jim thought l had changed her postion to striker instead of left back . Dont worry girls we will beat them next time . I would just like to remind the girls that l love working with them and l dont mind if we never win as long as they are having fun!!!!!!!!

The under 11s visited Plains Farm determined to get back to winning ways after their midweek loss to Hilda Park. Coxhoe enjoyed the lions share of possession in the first half but a tremendous goalkeeping display kept the game goalless until 28 minutes when Ryan Mansfield opened the scoring for Coxhoe. Evan Teggert doubled United's lead in first half injury time with his first goal since his comeback. Going into the second half Coxhoe really began to stamp their authourity on the game and Lee Milburn scored his opener at 42 minutes followed by a Ryan Mansfield goal 3 minutes later. Coxhoe suffered a bit of a scare when Plains Farm scored a couple of goals in as many minutes but Lee "goal machine" Milburn grabbed another three goals to make the final score 7-2 in Coxhoe's favour. The victory lifted the under 11s to eighth place in the Russell Foster First Division.

After the disappointment of dropping 5 points in the previous 2 matches and falling to second in the league, the boys were keen to kick start their season again to get back onto winning ways. This was going to be tough as the weekend's first opponents were Deerness Valley Bees who joined us this season from Division 1. Although they were sitting 6 places below Coxhoe, they demonstrated that they were aiming for higher things when after 2 minutes the United defence seemed rooted to the spot as the Bees sliced through to open the scoring. Coxhoe increased the pressure and began to string some decent passes together but couldn't make it count. Deerness made Coxhoe regret some of their earlier misses, when on 9 minutes a high lob from an initial corner looped way above everyone's heads and somehow managed to drop at the right time to squeeze just under the crossbar to double the advantage. The hard dry uneven ground was often making the ball bobble like a cabbage and it was just such an awkward bounce that led to the Bees 3rd on 12 minutes.United played like a different team in the 2nd half using their skill and passing abilities which had previously taken them to the top of the league, and it was Cameron Holdsworth who clawed a goal back 2 minutes into the 2nd half after breaking clear or the Bees defence and rounding the keeper skilfully. This opened up the game and the Bees keeper did really well to prevent Coxhoe closing the gap further after several good attempts on goal.
Final Result - Coxhoe United 1, Deerness Valley 3. MoM - Jamie Appleby
With the worry of falling further down the table, Coxhoe needed to put the results from the last 3 games behind them and start playing their normal football again. Both previous encounters with Easington Kites had been goalless - a score line that United needed to make sure didn't happen today if they had any ambitions of silverware this season. Although the Kites tried to impose themselves early, with a powerful long distance shot within 20 seconds drifting harmlessly wide, but Coxhoe followed a minute later with 2 quick chances - the first being parried by the keeper and the second finding the side netting. Several minutes of hard fought midfield work followed until the deadlock was broken by United on the 9 minute mark by Andrew Simpson's right wing shot that beat the Kites keeper and defender on the line.In the second half Coxhoe went from strength to strength playing some of the best football of the weekend, but the Easington keeper pulled of some tremendous saves to keep the game alive for the Kites. Their equaliser almost came from a corner with 4 minutes left to play as the Easington striker gathered the ball in front of goal and seemed to have an eternity to line up his shot without being closed down, but fortunately for Coxhoe the resulting strike hit the crossbar.

The first game of the weekend saw us up against one of the teams we have close links with Durham Athletic Clarets who we played in a pre-season friendly, the Lions were hoping for a better result today but we seemed still to be half asleep as we started the match slowly and gave the Clarets and early lead which they soon doubled to make it 2-0 mid way thru' the first half. This seemed to wake us up as we began to play some football with the Ferryhill trio of Lewis and the 2 Kieren's starting to work together in the middle of the park and the pace of Rhys upfront it looked like we could cause a few problems and Lewis was unlucky not to score as a chance in front of goal came up off his knee and went just wide, however after a couple of tactical changes we had our best spell of the match until the Clarets again pressed forward and scored 2 goals in quick succession to make it 4-0 at half time. After a wake up call at the interval we came out much more committed in the second half with Michael Wake performing well in a new midfield role and James and Jordan looking much stronger at the back as we began to press the Clarets defence and pass the all around more with the ever willing Joe Nixon working hard up front. With the hard ground and hot conditions we changed it again with the re-introduction of Rhys up front, Joe back into midfield and Michael moving back to his normal defensive position and we created a chance almost immediately as a long ball was chased down by Rhys and when the Clarets keeper fumbled it the empty net beckoned for our first goal of the day but the ball bobbled just as Rhys struck it and went just wide. Encouraged by this we pressed forward with neat passing setting Rhys away on goal and with only the keeper to beat his shot across goal looked to be heading for the back of the net but struck the post and rolled out to safety - was it going to be another one of those days in front of goal ?? As we tired in the heat the Clarets broke away again to score a 5th to leave the final score 5-0 but a much better second half performance from everyone.

The second game of the day put us up against another Durham team, this time it was Durham County Jets and we were looking for better things following the second half performance but yet again we started the game very slowly and gifted the Jets 2 early goals as the opposition broke thru' the defence unchallenged to leave Mark Arnold with no chance of stopping the goals. It was again a rear guard action for most of the first half with the ever impressive Michael and Jordan doing there best to keep things at bay and when they were beaten Mark was on inspired form in the Coxhoe net. We created a couple of chances and forced a couple of corners from which we had our first chance of the game but it seemed lady luck was against us again as a goal bound shot struck one of our own players back sides to prevent a goal !!Lewis Myers created a couple of chances down the wing as he broke clear but our shooting boots seemed to have been left at home this weekend and just before the break the Jets increased their lead to 3-0. Just as in the first match the half time interval seemed to liven us up and we came out like a team again with some confidence to go at the Jets defence as we began the stronger team with Rhys up front causing problems with his pace and strength and it was a break down the right wing that he picked up and beat 2 defenders before coolly rounding the keeper and slotting the ball into the back of the net for our first goal of the weekend. The Jets picked up after that scare and had a determined spell of pressure which would have increased their lead but for some fantastic saves from Mark Arnold in the Coxhoe net, however the pressure began to tell but despite his heroics in goal the Jets finished the game the stronger to score 3 more times to leave the final score 6-1

United's only game of the day was against Castletown Rangers Whites, United started brightly with a lovely shot from distance by Lewis Elmer, Lewis again was involved as Jordan Harker just shot wide from the edge of the area. Tim Hopper and Danny Teggert were strong at the back and kept Zahan Bomanji's goal quiet the whole of the first half. United started the second half with Aarron Cane coming on for Connor Pritchard, United were under pressure from the start and conceded 2 sloppy goals in the first five minutes of the scond half, Coxhoe upt the tempo with 5 minutes to go and Connor Pritchard who came on for Joe Wilson scored his first goal for Coxhoe United from just inside the area, United applied more pressure but could not get the goal.

U10 Girls Coxhoe 0 v Willington 10
This was a difficult match as we only had 6 players . Willington are top of the league and the girls were not looking forward to this match as we lost 10-0 last time with a full team . We lost a few quick goals before the girls had got themselves together , but then they started working as a team , especially Bethany , Sophie and Ashleigh in defence , who guarded their goal strongly . As their confidence grew so did their attacking runs , with Sophie and Abigail making some daring runs for goal . Our fitness deserted us in the final minutes but overall a galliant effort .U10 Girls Coxhoe 0 v Deerness 5 Last game against Deerness had been a loss of 10 goals again , but the girls were determined that with even 6 players they were not going to lose this many again . They made me proud with their courage and determination . Sophie and Abigail deserved a good lie down after all the running they did in this match . We had several good chances for goal in this game and just lost out on the final strike . The team played excellently and look more like a team every time they step foot on the pitch . Remember they have only played together as a team from January

When United's under 11s last faced Sunderland 24/7 back in late November, Coxhoe found themselves rock bottom of the First Division with only 1 point to show from their first 10 matches. The improvement since those dark days has been truly staggering with the management team of Steve Woodward and Kevin Smith doing a job which Clough/Taylor would be proud. It speaks volumes that Coxhoe went into todays game unbeaten in the league in 2007 and firm favourites to take the points on a bright and breezy day, so it was a bit of a surprise when Sunderland took the lead after only 3 minutes of play. The goal raised Sunderland's spirits who pushed forward and Coxhoe had to weather a bit of a storm in the opening minutes. Sunderland's lead was short lived however, as Ryan Mansfield was brought down with 10 minutes on the clock and Macauley Smith stepped up to deliver a wonderful free kick into the Sunderland area which found United's goal machine Lee Milburn who neatly found the back of the net. The longer the game went on the more Coxhoe's confidence grew and Macauley Smith looked as if he was going score at the midway point of the half but his shot sailed over the bar. Evan Teggert is looking stronger with every game he plays after his horrific injury earlier in the season and he went close 5 minutes before the break with a long range shot with Lee Milburn chasing in for the rebound but the game remained at 1-1 when the half time whistle blew. Three minutes into the second half Ryan Mansfield hit the Sunderland post but Lee Milburn made no mistake three minutes later as he scored a goal from a superb Ryan Mansfield long throw in. From that point Coxhoe never looked like losing the match as they spent long periods camped in the 24/7 half of the field with Lewis Dodsworth making magnificent runs down the left wing which caused all sorts of problems for Sunderland. Lee Milburn completed his hat-trick with his 18th goal for Coxhoe since his transfer from Durham County (where he scored 3 earlier in the season). Coxhoe's man of the match Lewis Dodsworth rounded off a fantastic day for United when he scored Coxhoe's fourth to make the final score 4-1 to United.
Under 10s
Beginning the weekend sitting on the top of the table, Coxhoe United were hopeful for a strong weekend to maintain their position and try to extend their lead. The windy conditions against City of Durham Scorpions hampered any fluent passing attempts and it was 8 minutes before the first goal attempt which came from Jamie Appleby for Coxhoe - A hopeful lob that was caught by the wind to be carried over the Scorpions crossbar. United continued to press forward and followed 1 minute later with a Cameron Holdsworth right wing run and superb cross along the face of Durham's goal, but his speedy run had left the rest of the Coxhoe attack lagging behind so no one was in the box to slot the ball home. More opportunities followed from Alex McGrath and a cheeky lob from Andrew Simpson, but the Scorpions keeper was equal to everything United could throw at him. Similarly the Coxhoe Defensive unit of Lee Saiger, Jack Thirlaway and Stephen Wadge were able to hold the Durham attack at bay.A half time substitution saw Coxhoe add James Gilson up front in an attempt to find the opener, and he almost did exactly that within 2 minutes, but his shot needed more power to beat an on-form Durham Keeper. United continued to apply the pressure but were unable to find the final killer ball. Possibly the best opportunity came from a single handed attempt from Andrew Simpson, twisting and turning to weave through the Scorpion defence but the final shot lacked power and accuracy. Coxhoe's final throw of the dice was to bring the fresh legs of Curtis Bihari into the attacking force after his MoM performance of last week but Durham's response was to put every man behind the ball making it very difficult for Coxhoe to find a way through. However a gamble from James Gilson saw him through on goal, only to shoot high in his haste to beat an advancing Scorpion keeper. The final kick of the game was a corner for Durham which eluded every player on the field to drift beyond the goal. All credit must go to the Durham defence for retaining a clean sheet in light of the numerous attempts Coxhoe had on goal.
Final Score:- CoD Scorpions 0, Coxhoe United 0. MoM - Andrew Simpson.
South Tyneside Jets put their imposing physical presence to work in the 2nd match of the day straight away with a powerful wind assisted shot which almost caught out Lee Saiger in the Coxhoe net, but he managed to take the energy out of the ball and it dropped to Stephen Wadge to clear. Lee Saiger again came to the rescue 2 minutes later to pull off a fantastic save from a Jets free kick that sliced between the bodies gathered in the United box. The effort was in vein as a few seconds later Tyneside found the back of the net with their opener that had looked inevitable from the kick off. The Tyneside pressure was relentless with another run up the wing and great cross, but Stephen Wadge was well positioned to take control and head it safely away. A heavy tackle on Cameron Holdsworth on 10 minutes meant he was forced off before he had a chance to show the Jets his pace and skill in this game, but Alex McGrath replaced him with similar determination.Into the second half and Tyneside showed no signs of letting up and within 2 minutes they were on the attack again. Lee Saiger did well to narrow the angle, forcing the initial shot to hit the post, but the rebound fell into the path of another Tyneside attacker who slammed home to double the advantage. With Coxhoe's defensive record so far this season being fantastic, this score line was a shock and heads started to go down, which inevitably led to a Tyneside 3rd. Passing and control in this 2nd game were not to the usual Coxhoe standard and the Jets 4th added insult to injury. Even the determined efforts of Curtis Bihari, Andrew Simpson and Jack Thirlaway could not break through the Tyneside defence. With 2 minutes left on the clock, James Gilson was carried off with an injury to be replaced with Jamie Appleby who immediately burst through on goal, initially hitting the post but ultimately following up with a consolation goal with almost the last kick of the match.
Final Score:- Coxhoe United 1, South Tyneside Jets 4. MoM - Jack Thirlaway.

First game of the day put us up against Byers Green Bees who we'd played in friendlies before the start of the season and they were always close games and this encounter in the league was no different, again a windy day didn't help playing conditions, however from the start Coxhoe looked like a team who wanted to play some football. The boys played the ball well through midfield and looked to play with some width to stretch the Byers defence which we did with Keiran Latcham pulling the strings with lots of space in midfield and both Lewis and Joe taking on defenders out wide. We created a couple of chances up front with Rhys again looking dangerous, but it was a ball out wide that created the first goal, Joe Nixon picked the ball wide on the left wing, cut back inside and hit an unstoppable shot from just inside the touchline into the opposite top corner of the net. A lead we well deserved at half time, into the second half and we carried on playing some nice football but Byers came back into the game but strong tackling at the back from Michael and James kept our lead intact until Byers broke clear to leave a 1 on 1 with Mark, who's brave attempt to block the shot just failed as he was injured and Byers equalised. Our head didn't go down and we pressed forward to try and get the winner, again it wasn't our day in front of goal as again we failed to score from a number of chances and just to top off our bad luck a late strike from the edge of the box gave the Byers team a 2-1 win against the run of play.

Our second game put us up against Washington Juniors who were a tall, quick side and from the kick off some neat passing and quick movement from the Washington side gave them an early lead and when a second was scored not long after it looked like one of those days, but this week the lads heads didn't go down and we battled back into the game and to everyone's credit we did it by trying to play some football. We always had to careful at the back as the quick break from Washington was always going to cause us problems but Michael and James again kept things in check along with some fine saves by our 1 legged goalkeeper Mark. With a re-shuffle in the second half Jordan moved back into defence and Rhys went on up front, we again created chances and opened up their defence again with some good passing which ended with a strike on goal only being parried by the keeper, the loose ball fell to the feet of Keiran Jowett who smashed it into the roof of the net for his first goal for Coxhoe and give us some hope of a result. For the next 5 minutes we gave the Washington defence a lot think about with chances for Lewis, Rhys and Keiran almost bringing us back into the game, but Washington's speed and passing was always going to create more chances and a couple of late goals sealed the win for Washington.

Excellent performances from Vanessa Stephenson , Sophie Whiting and Abigail Griffiths , who came so close to scoring several times .

Coxhoe faced a tough away fixture against Whitburn & Cleadon without the services of Ryan Mansfield and Jack Stoneley both of whom have been outstanding in recent weeks. Daniel Hall came in at right back with Jamie Halliday taking up position in midfield. Coxhoe totally dominated the first half and Lee Milburn grabbed the opening goal with only 4 minutes on the clock with a beautiful long range strike. He was prevented from getting a brace at 17 minutes when he forced a stunning save from the in form Whitburn goalkeeper but only three minutes later he made no mistake with a typical "Milburn Special" to make it 2-0 in Coxhoe's favour going into half time. Going into the second half, Whitburn defended deeper to try and thwart the danger posed by Lee Milburn's lightning pace but Coxhoe still continued to dominate. Coxhoe survived a scare five minutes into the second when a Whitburn shot from a break sailed over the bar. The Whitburn goal was leading a charmed life when Macauley Smith almost made it three when a shot just went wide of the goal and Jordan Woodword hit the post from a corner. One minute later Macauley Smith put the game out of Whitburn's reach when he converted a long range free kick to make the final score 3-0 to Coxhoe.

OXHOE UNITED v BRANDON UNITED
The weather was bright when Coxhoe kicked off the game with a cool breeze behind them. Previous matches between the two teams have always been close encounters and today's game proved no exception. Early pressure from Coxhoe resulted in a good save by the Brandon keeper after three minutes, pushing a Jamie Appleby lob onto the bar and out for a corner. In the next minute a good ball by Alex McGrath put James Gilson through on goal but the Brandon keeper made another good save. Coxhoe kept up the pressure and with five minutes on the clock a swift exchange of passes involving Curtis Bihari, Alex McGrath and Andrew Simpson resulted in a cross for James Gilson to score at the far post; his fourth goal in two games. Coxhoe continued to have the majority of the chances, the best of which was a left foot Alex McGrath shot after thirteen minutes that went just wide. However, Brandon hit back in the next minute and were unlucky not to equalise when a terrific run and shot from their ever dangerous centre forward was miraculously pushed onto the bar by Lee Saiger in the Coxhoe goal. That was the final action of the half that ended 1-0 to Coxhoe who had Curtis Bihari playing brilliantly on the left side of midfield. Coxhoe made a double substitution at half time, bringing on Stephen Wadge and flying winger Cameron Holdsworth for James Gilson and Jack Thirlaway, with Andrew Simpson switching to defence. In the first minute of the half it was Stephen Wadge, playing in his unfamiliar role up front, who created a good opportunity for himself that was again well saved by the Brandon keeper. Coxhoe continued to push forward and Alex McGrath had two good efforts within the space of a minute, but it was super sub Stephen Wadge who increased Coxhoe's lead after three minutes of the half, coolly slotting the ball past the advancing Brandon keeper after receiving a lovely pass from Curtis Bihari. Coxhoe continued to play well with their defensive pairing of Jamie Appleby and Andrew Simpson snuffing out the hardworking Brandon attack. Stephen Wadge was continuing to cause problems for the Brandon defence and Alex McGrath almost added to Coxhoe's lead with a left foot shot that flew just over the bar after eight minutes. By this stage it was all Coxhoe and Cameron Holdsworth brought another good save out of the Brandon keeper after ten minutes. However, in the next minute Lee Saiger had to be alert in the Coxhoe goal when he comfortably saved a Brandon shot.
The game ended with a well-deserved 2-0 win to Coxhoe.
Coxhoe's Man of the Match was their tricky wide man Curtis "watch me hair" Bihari.
COXHOE UNITED v SWALWELL JUNIORS
As always when playing against a team from the Swalwell club Coxhoe knew they were going to be in for a tough game. And so it proved when Swalwell took the initiative in the first half and had more of the possession and much the better chances during the half, with their tricky left-winger in particular causing problems on several occasions. Swalwell almost took the lead when they had a shot that rattled the bar. However, the score remained 0-0 at half time. In the second half Coxhoe responded to the half time team talk and they managed to close down their opponents much better with the tenacious Jack Thirlaway putting in some crunching tackles in midfield. Coxhoe managed to press forward more, with Cameron Holdsworth in particular finding space on the right hand side of midfield and getting in some good crosses. However, Swalwell were still dangerous on the break and had several good chances to take the lead, the best of which brought a great save out of Lee Saiger in the Coxhoe goal when one on one with a Swalwell attacker. Despite both sides creating chances, the game looked to be heading for a draw until Coxhoe managed to force a corner with only two minutes of the game remaining. Cameron Holdsworth took the kick to the far post where he found Andrew Simpson unmarked to head Coxhoe into the lead. Swalwell tried to hit back but they couldn't find a way past the resilient Coxhoe defence of Jamie Appleby and Stephen Wadge.
The game ended 1-0 to Coxhoe. Coxhoe's Man of the Match was their speedy right-winger Cameron Holdsworth.

At last the Lions started the day with 2 games to look forward to and certainly looked to be up for it as we started well against Anfield Plain with some good passing early on in midfield creating a chance up front for Kieran Jowett who just failed to test the keeper. The match progress much the same for the remainder of the first half with Coxhoe dominating play but unable to score a goal, an injury to Lewis Myers meant an early introduction to the game for Keiran Latcham as our domination increased, however just before the break a rare Anfield attack ended with them scoring from their only chance of the half. Heads didn't go down at half time and we started the second half just as we had the first, again a lot of hard work from the midfield created chance after chance but it wasn't to be our day as we found the Anfield keeper in inspired form and our luck ran out with shots going just wide or just over from Rhys, Keiran L and Keiran J. We also rattled the cross bar when a terrific strike from the edge of the box by Lewis Myers at last beat the keeper but agonisingly hit the underside of the bar and dropped for a defender to clear. The effort and commitment from all was 100% and we just had to count ourselves unlucky with the final score ending up 1-0 to Anfield, if it had been a boxing match the referee would have stopped it well before the final whistle.
Anfield Plain 1 CUFC 0 - MOM: Keiran Latcham
Our second game of the day put us up against Biscop Rangers and we started slowly as Biscop broke and scored an early goal to settle their nerves, we tried to pass the ball around in midfield and again created chances with Rhys Wayman back upfront causing problems for the Biscop defence. However it was the Coxhoe defence of Michael Wake and James Gaskell that were the busier as Biscop's pressure earned them a second goal as the half progressed, an injury to Keiran Jowett caused a re-shuffle with Jordan Atkinson coming on in defence and James Gaskell moving into midfield however just before half time a third goal for Biscop saw our heads go down a little. The second half started with some nice passing between Joe Nixon / Keiran Latcham and Lewis Myers in the middle of the park as we again created chances but failed to hit the target, at the other end Mark Arnold and the Coxhoe defence were having a hard time against a quick and tricky Biscop attack who made it 4-0 after 5 minutes of the second half. After another Coxhoe break and chance the ball was cleared by the Biscop defence for a corner, this was crossed in by Keiran Latcham and it evaded everyone before hitting the back post and trickling across the line for our only goal of the day, not much reward for all of the chances we created in both games. The game ended with us getting tired and not tracking back to allow Biscop to score 3 late goals for a final score of 1-7.

Coxhoe started their 7th game in the cup looking to improve on their 4th place but the Wildcats start the sharper and inside the first 3 minutes they went 1-0 up with some tricky footwork by the Washington forward. Coxhoe tried to level the score from the kickoff with Anthony Wharrier going close, Jordan Harker & Lewis Elmer also put shots in but they were well saved by the Washington Keeper, 2 minutes later the Wildcats doubled their lead. Coxhoe again tried to get back into the game with Lewis & Tim combining to feed in Jordan who managed a nice one, two with Anthony which resulted in Anthony just shooting over the bar. In the 10th minute of the first half the Wildcats went 3-0 up with an identical move as the first goal. Coxhoe's goalkeeper Zahan was hurt in the move and had to be replaced with Joe Wilson and the first half ended 3-0.At the start of the second half the goalkeeper position was changed back to Zahan after Joe picked up an injury at the end of the first half. Other changes were Faye Mullen replacing Tim and Sam makes his Coxhoe debut coming on for Jordan. From the kickoff in the second half Coxhoe pulled one back when Anthony dribbled into the box and scored low into the bottom corner. Five minutes later the Wildcats increased their lead to 4-1. Coxhoe made another change, taking Aaron Cane off and replacing with Tim. Tim went into left back to strengthen the defence along side Flynn Fisher and Lewis came off for Jordan. After the changes Faye grabbed the second goal for Coxhoe when Faye's shot from outside the box was deflected into the top of the goal, from the resulting kickoff the Wildcats got their 5th and final of the game with a nice move down the right.

Coxhoe started the brighter and Macauley Smith forced a good save from the Lumley keeper after 5 minutes of play. An almost identical shot from Macauley after 10 minutes forced the keeper to knock the ball past the post and Ryan Mansfield scored from the resulting corner. When Evan Teggert went close on the 15 minute mark it looked as if Coxhoe were going to run away with the game but Lumley broke away and the well struck shot just drifted past the post. Lewis Dodsworth had a shot on goal two minutes later but the shot was easily dealt with by the Lumley keeper. United continued to press forward but Lumley looked dangerous on the break and went close on another couple of occasions. Lee Milburn scored on the stroke of half time to make the score 2-0 in Coxhoe's favour going into the break.Lumley were far stronger in the second half and pulled a goal back after 5 minutes courtesy of a beautifully struck free kick. Two minutes later Ryan Mansfield almost restored United's two goal advantage but his shot drifted past the post. Coxhoe were stung when Lumley scored twice at 12 & 20 minutes, again with superbly taken free kicks and after all their hard work United found themselves 3-2 down but the Coxhoe boys never know when they are beaten and Lee Milburn scored his second of the game two minutes before the final whistle to even the game and maintain Coxhoe's unbeaten league run for 2007.

COXHOE UNITED v TYNESIDE JUNIORS
The weather was bright and a bit more than breezy when Coxhoe kicked off the game playing into a strong wind. James Gilson had a chance for Coxhoe in the first minute of the game, shooting just wide from a Cameron Holdsworth pass. Tyneside had their first chance in the next minute which was turned around the post for a corner by Lee Saiger in the Coxhoe goal. The subsequent corner was cleared by the Coxhoe defence. After 4 minutes the Tyneside keeper made a terrific save from an Alex McGrath shot that was heading for the top corner of the net, following a great knock down by James Gilson. Coxhoe broke the deadlock from the resulting corner when James Gilson, lurking at the back post, looped the ball over the Tyneside keeper; the strong wind doing it's best to keep the ball out of the net, but the referee deemed the ball over the line. More great work by James Gilson after 7 minutes lead to another Coxhoe corner that was taken short to Jamie Appleby who blasted a shot just over the bar. Coxhoe were managing to play well despite the tricky conditions and Stephen Wadge was marshalling the defence to cope with Tyneside's direct attacks with the wind at their backs. Coxhoe front man James Gilson was a constant threat so it was no surprise when he doubled Coxhoe's lead after 14 minutes, following up to score after the Tyneside keeper had made another good save from a Cameron Holdsworth effort. Tyneside responded immediately with a shot on target that was comfortably saved by Lee Saiger to bring the first half action to a close, with Coxhoe leading 2-0. Coxhoe began the second half with the wind behind them and immediately went on the attack with an Alex McGrath shot going just wide after a good exchange of passes with Cameron Holdsworth. Coxhoe kept up the pressure and good work from Curtis Bihari after 3 minutes of the half resulted in a Coxhoe corner, taken by Jamie Appleby and turned in at the near post by Alex McGrath. Tyneside were finding it difficult to get the ball forward as Coxhoe were making good use of the wind advantage and both Jamie Appleby and Andrew Simpson just failed to score with long range efforts. After 9 minutes a good interchange of passes involving James Gilson, Curtis Bihari and Andrew Simpson finished with a Jamie Appleby shot going just wide. Coxhoe eventually managed to break through the stubborn Tyneside defence again after 10 minutes when good work from Andrew Simpson found Jamie Appleby on the right wing who beat the Tyneside defence before unselfishly squaring the ball across the face of the goal for James Gilson to complete his hat-trick. Jack Thirlaway almost made it 5-0 in the last minute of the game when he received a throw in and tried his luck from long range that went just wide.
The game ended with a convincing 4-0 victory to Coxhoe.
Coxhoe's Man of the Match was their target man and hat-trick hero James Gilson.
COXHOE UNITED v WHEATLEY HILL ROCKETS
A change of pitch meant that Wheatley Hill kicked off the game with a strong cross-wind that rendered an exciting game between the top two sides in the division almost impossible. However, both sides did their best to play controlled football but it was Wheatley Hill who adapted slightly better to the conditions. Early Rockets pressure lead to a good save from Lee Saiger in the Coxhoe goal after 3 minutes, the Rockets hitting the bar from the resulting corner kick. Coxhoe fought their way more into the game around the seven minute mark and had two good efforts in the space of a minute, from Andrew Simpson and Alex McGrath, both saved by the Rockets keeper. The Rockets counter attacked and it took a brave save from Lee Saiger, diving at the feet of a Rockets forward, to prevent them taking the lead. The strong wind continued to hinder both teams and it was no surprise when the fairly even first half ended 0-0. The second half continued in similar vein to the first with Wheatley Hill creating the early pressure with a good effort on goal going just over the bar after 2 minutes, and Coxhoe coming more into the game as the half progressed. The weather conditions generally lead to a stalemate with both sides finding it difficult to create any clear cut chances. However, Coxhoe's Jack Thirlaway did manage to intercept a pass out of the Wheatley Hill defence after 10 minutes, but his effort was foiled by the Rockets keeper. The Rockets almost stole all three points late in the game when a pass across the face of the goal missed the on-rushing forwards and went out for a throw in. It was a shame that this eagerly awaited match between these two sides was spoiled by the weather conditions; the game ending 0-0. Coxhoe keeper Lee Saiger, along with Stephen Wadge and Jamie Appleby in the Coxhoe defence, once again managing to keep a clean sheet; their fifth in six games.
Final Score Coxhoe United 0 Wheatley Hill Rockets 0
Coxhoe's Man of the Match was hardworking midfielder Alex McGrath.
Under 10 Lions
After a long wait with our first game being cancelled the Lions faced Washington United Tigons on a very windy day, the wait and the wind worked against us as the Lions started slowly and it was Washington that had most of the early play with a number of good chances wasted and some resolute defending from Jordan Atkinson and James Gaskell. An early injury to Joe Nixon meant Lewis Myers, our only sub for the day, was early into the action, and after the shaky start we got back into the game for the last 5 minutes of the first half with some good passing in midfield from Keiran Latcham and Keiran Jowett and we closed the half with a couple of good breaks from Lewis and Rhys Wayman our only chances as it ended 0-0 at half time. The wind got even stronger in the second half which made playing football very difficult and a serious of corners for Washington ended with the first goal of the game, as a half cleared corner was forced into the net by the Washington attack. Going behind seemed to spur the Lions on and after a couple of missed opportunities a break down the right by Rhys Wayman saw a cross come and it looked like Lewis Myers would score but he missed his kick and the ball ended up at the feet of Keiran Latcham who coolly put the ball into the back of the net to level the scores. The game open up after that and the Lions should have gone behind but a number of superb saves from Mark Arnold somehow kept the ball out of the net and us in the game however as we looked to press forward to snatch a winner we were caught on the break with Washington pushing forward with a 4v2 attack which ended up with late goal for Washington as the score ended 2-1.

United's first game was against 3rd place Waldridge Park Blues and United started the brighter of the two, with Jordan Harker and Lewis Elmer both going close early doors. A nice move between Faye Mullen and Lewis Elmer saw Anthony Wharrier just shoot wide, The Blues got a corner mid-way through the first half with their first attack of the game, from the corner the blues went 1-0 up with a great header just inside the box. United didn't let their heads go down and Anthony Wharrier, Jordan Harker and Faye Mullen all made the blues keeper work. Then from another corner Washington went 2-0 up in an identical move as the first. From the resulting kick-off Anthony Wharrier and Jordan Harker combined and Jordan's low shot was saved on the line by the keeper. Two minutes before the break Danny Teggert put a nice ball in the box and set up Jordan for a beautiful shot that was parried back out to the feet of Lewis Elmer who scored. United went into the break 2 - 1 down but were the better side. The second half was a stalemate, with Danny Teggart and Flynn Fisher keeping Zahan's goal quiet. Anthony & Jordan had no joy at the other end. Most of the play stopped in midfield with Faye & Lewis having a busy time but to no avail.
Final Score Coxhoe United 1 - Waldridge Park Blues 2 - Mom Danny Teggart & Lewis Elmer.
United's second game was against Washington FC with United making one change, Aaron Cane coming on for Flynn Fisher. United again started well with Anthony Wharrier firing over with the first attack of the game. United with the wind on their backs applied pressure to the Washington goal and got their first corner of the match. From Lewis Elmer's corner Anthony Wharrier put Coxhoe United 1 - 0 ahead when he put the ball into the roof of the net on the edge of the box. Aaron Cane stopped Washington's only attack of the first half with a good tackle just outside of the box. Danny Teggart picked up the loose ball and passed to Lewis Elmer in the Washington half. He ran at the Washington defence and his resulting shot was knocked wide by the keeper, Anthony Wharrier managed to keep the ball in play and scored from a tight angle.United made a change from the start of the second half with Flynn Fisher on for Faye Mullen. With ten minutes on the clock in the second half Jordan Harker put Anthony through for what should of been his hat-trick but Anthony shot straight into the keeper's arms.

Coxhoe started their only game of the day slowly with Willington Blues applying all the pressure, Coxhoe could not hold out and went into the break 2-0 down. Coxhoe were out of the box quickly in the secod half and upt the tempo with some nice one/two passing between Bobby Goundry and new signing James Calkin which resulted in a good shot been saved by the keeper. Coxhoe applied more pressure with Ben Crampton twice going close. Despite all the good play in the second half Coxhoe still could not find the net.

Under 10 Girls
Congratulations Girls , this was our first win in the league and a well deserved one at that . The whole team played strongly from the start . They were determined to win this game as Blaydon were just below them on goal difference . The wind made the game difficult , but the girls battled and made lots of attacking runs with Sophie Whiting regularly pushing up from defence . Finally , Sophie crossed a ball into the box and Abigail Griffiths banged it in the net . I have never seen so many parents jumping around the side line , it was a sight to see .
Final Score Coxhoe United 1 Blaydon 0
The girls started this game full of confidence after the win . Swallwell are one of the strongest teams in this league , but also one of the friendliest . Although the score suggests we lost easily it was not the case . The girls had many attacks , but this time the ball would not cross the line . Ashleigh Stores had a very strong game keeping their left wing tightly marked and Holly Crozier our goalkeeper was amazing, with save after save . It is just a matter of time until this team wins again . Well done all!!!!!!!!

COXHOE UNITED v SEAHAM ALLSTARS
In this first ever meeting between the two teams Coxhoe kicked off in overcast conditions with a strong crosswind. Coxhoe had the better of the early exchanges with an Alex McGrath effort just over the bar after 2 minutes, and an Andrew Simpson shot on goal blocked by the Seaham defence. Seaham came more into the game around the five-minute mark and forced a couple of corners that came to nothing. The difficult conditions generally made the game a midfield stalemate, however, Coxhoe finished the half the stronger with a good fluent passing move finishing with an Alex McGrath shot saved, with the follow-up by Curtis Bihari blocked. Coxhoe then forced four corners in succession that resulted in nothing more than a shot from Stephen Wadge just going wide of the post. Seaham countered with an effort that was well saved by Lee Saiger in the Coxhoe goal. Then a great attacking move by Coxhoe at the end of the half resulted in a Jamie Appleby shot just over the bar. Both teams were evenly matched with Coxhoe probably just shading the half in terms of chances created. Coxhoe had the better chances early in the second half and took the lead after three minutes when Andrew Simpson finished well, shooting past the Seaham keeper following a pass from Alex McGrath. James Gilson replaced the hard working Curtis Bihari after four minutes and added fresh legs to the Coxhoe attack. However, Seaham were becoming more determined in an effort to hit back and had a shot well saved by Lee Saiger. Seaham continued to keep up the pressure, but Stephen Wadge and Jack Thirlaway remained solid in the Coxhoe defence. Seaham continued to push for an equaliser but were almost caught out by a couple of Coxhoe counter attacks from Andrew Simpson and Jamie Appleby.
The entertaining game between these two evenly matched sides ended with a 1-0 win for Coxhoe.
Coxhoe's Man of the Match was their speedy wingback Jamie Appleby.
COXHOE UNITED v SHOTTON BOYS
In their second game of the day against Shotton Boys Coxhoe were looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the cup campaign. They had a blistering start in the first minute of the game with a well-taken Andrew Simpson goal from a James Gilson pass. Shotton hit back immediately with a couple of shots just wide, the second of which hit a parent spectator on the back of the head, much to the amusement of everyone. Coxhoe continued to push for a second goal with good efforts on goal from Alex McGrath and Jamie Appleby. However, they didn't have things all their own way as Shotton had several attacks of their own, the best of which was well saved by Lee Saiger at the near post. Towards the end of the half Coxhoe continued to press forward and both James Gilson and Curtis Bihari were unlucky not to score. In the final minute of the half Coxhoe did increase their lead with Alex McGrath's left foot finish after great build-up play from James Gilson, Andrew Simpson and Curtis Bihari. In the second half Coxhoe continued where they left off in the first and passed the ball about well and created several chances, the best of which was a Curtis Bihari shot that was cleared by the Shotton defence after a goalmouth scramble. The Shotton goalkeeper then made an outstanding point blank reflex save from an Alex McGrath shot. But after eleven minutes Coxhoe scored their third goal following a terrific run and shot from Jamie Appleby that was again well saved by the Shotton keeper, only for Alex McGrath to score from the rebound. Shotton, to their credit, tried to hit back with a great run and shot from their dangerous No. 9. Another effort from the same player following a corner after thirteen minutes was well saved by Lee Saiger in the Coxhoe goal.
The game finally ended in a 3-0 win for Coxhoe. Once again cool Stephen Wadge and tough tackling Jack Thirlaway were solid in the Coxhoe defence that resulted in another clean sheet.
Coxhoe's Man of the Match was Alex McGrath.

With only one game this weekend and a late start it could have been a difficult day, but the Lions didn't sleep tonight - from the start everyone was up for the game and from the first whistle it was end to end football. Both teams went close with a number of chances but good goalkeeping and 2 strong defences kept it 0-0 till half time. The second half started the same way and it seemed like a goal was never going to come until Rhys Wayman broke clear and was 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper who brought him down for a clear penalty, up stepped Keiran Latchum and coolly stroked the ball into the back of the net for the Lions first ever goal. That gave the team even more confidence and we continued to press forward with the ever dangerous Rhys Wayman breaking clear again to score his first goal and double the lead. Waldridge continued to pressure the Coxhoe goal but strong tackling from the defence and another excellent performance in goal from Mark Arnold kept them at bay, in the closing minutes another run from Rhys resulted in a cross shot that ended up at the feet of James Gaskell who smashed the ball into the back of the net from 6 inches to give us our first win with a 3-0 final score.

Coxhoe United v South Tyneside Sprites
oxhoe start the days games in high spirits and nearly go ahead in the first minute through good link up play between double forward act Jordan Harker & Anthony Wharrier with Anthony just skimming the post, then a nice lay off by Faye Mullen sets Lewis Elmer up for a good shot that goes over the bar. The defensive pair of Danny Teggert & Flynn Fisher keep the Sprites to just one shot in the first half which was well saved by Zahan. Coxhoe finish the first half with another good shot, saved by the Sprites keeper.Much the same in the second half as Coxhoe are camped in the Sprites half, Coxhoe get the break through with just 3 minutes to go when from a corner Jordan Harker slips a goal through the keepers legs when the Sprites could not get the ball out of the box.

Coxhoe start the game full of confidence and pressing from the off, Anthony Wharrier & Jordan Harker both coming close. In the 5th minute Joe Wilson over stretched for the ball and was brought off injured and by the time Coxhoe settled after the substitution they were 1 - 0 down with an unstoppable low shot, Coxhoe end the first half the stronger side.A couple of minutes into the second half Anthony & Jordan did some nice passing on the edge of the area and Anthony passed to an unmarked Lewis just outside the box who put in a low shot and scored putting Coxhoe back into the game 1 - 1. One minute later and Coxhoe should of taking the lead through a good shot from Flynn just outside the box. With 8 minutes to go Lewis grabbed his 4th goal of the campaign with a nice lay off from Danny, Lewis shot into the roof of the net, there was no reply from the Juniors and Coxhoe cruised to a 2-1 win. Coxhoe United 0 v Whiteleas Wasps 2
This in my opinion was one of the girls best games since joining the league in September. With Jim away in Spain and Emily Stores in London the girls had to put up with a different formation and other voices shouting at them from the side line , ( thanks to Stuart Scaithe for helping run the team ) The girls worked well together and played like a team who knew what they were doing . We pressured the Wasps goal many times , and defended with courage . The score was 0-0 with 4 mins to go and then Wasps sneaked 2 late goals which were not really deserved . I can't really pick out any particular players they all were brilliant . Excellent game!!!!

This was a hard match on a very muddy pitch . The girls played well and moved the ball around effectively. Abigail and Meghan made some storming runs towards goal , but just lacked the finish to turn them into goals. Again the four in defence , Holly , Sophie , Ashleigh and Beth played a very solid game. Well tried.
Coxhoe United 0 v Swallwell 4
This was a very exciting game, with all the girls determined to score a goal . They played their hearts out and attacked Swallwells goal many times , but the ball just would not cross the line. Sophie had another strong game , running up and down the pitch making some very well needed tackles. This game showed the girls that they can play effectively as a team and we will score a goal soon!!!!!

Coxhoe United under 11s entertained Sunderland based Mill Hill Boys and sought to avenge a 2-1 defeat suffered back in November. Coxhoe struggled to find the tremendous form of late and the opening 15 minutes were very scrappy but a moment of brilliance from man of the match Lee Milburn on 17 minutes put Coxhoe in front when he broke through the Mill Hill defence with his lightning pace and his strike didn't give the Mill Hill goalkeeper a chance.Five minutes into the second half Coxhoe looked to have secured the victory when Lee Milburn grabbed his second goal of the game but a late fightback from Mill Hill saw them score their first from a beautifully taken free kick and then equalize with only 2 minutes remaining. It was a cruel blow to Coxhoe who had looked the better team but with an unbeaten record in 2007 will face next week's opponents Lumley with confidence.

Saturday 3rd marked the start of the cup season for Coxhoe United under 10s with their first two opponents being recently promoted Houghton Tigers & Ouston JuniorsThe first match proved even at the start, with chances for Cameron Holdsworth on 5 minutes, and a goal line clearance from Jamie Appleby 30 seconds later, but it was Houghton that broke the deadlock on 9 minutes when the tigers broke through the Coxhoe defence for a 1 on 1 that proved unstoppable. The lead only lasted 4 minutes when Alex McGrath's through ball found Andrew Simpson in front of goal. His first shot was well saved, but the parry to the right was pounced on again by Andrew who turned it in from a seemingly impossible angle.Coxhoe started more positively in the second half with some determined midfield work up the left wing from Curtis Bihari, crossing to James Gilson who lined it up for Cameron Holdsworth to loop a high ball beyond the reach of the Houghton keeper and into the back of the net. Houghton should have equalised 1 minute later with a well taken powerful shot, only to be denied by the crossbar. The Tigers piled on the pressure and followed this with 3 more attempts, each being well saved by Lee Saiger in the Coxhoe net to retain the 1 goal advantage, but United went on to have the last word when Cameron Holdsworth ran up the left wing, beating a couple of Houghton players and launched an unstoppable shot to seal the victory.
Final Score - Houghton Tigers 1, Coxhoe United 3. MoM - Alex McGrath
Ouston started the second match very strongly, forcing Lee Saiger to pounce on the ball on the goal line from a Juniors corner within 2 minutes. Coxhoe responded immediately with a well taken Cameron Holdsworth shot that was tipped around the post for a corner. It was that corner which provided the opener for United through James Gilson. United continued to play well, with some excellent passing starting from Jack Thirlaway in defence, culminating in a well taken strike from Andrew Simpson forcing a fantastic save from Ouston. The lead was cancelled out on 10 minutes when the Ouston attack intercepted a Coxhoe pass and buried the ball in the back of the net.The second half saw some great football from both sides but neither were able to add to the score line thanks to some great goal work from Lee Saiger and the Ouston keeper.

It was going to be hard introduction for the Lions against 2 teams that finished 6th & 7th during the league season and these being our first competitive games, first up was SAFC 24/7 Whites and we got off to a poor start with SAFC taking the lead early on, with everyone getting used to playing together it took us a while to get into our stride and before we did SAFC scored again to make it 2-0 by half time. The second half started brighter with Rhys Wayman going on a good run before being tackled just before he shot, however just after that SAFC increased their lead. Our first shot on target came from Joe Nixon and with some tough tackling in defence from Michael Wake and Jordan Atkinson we started to look like a team. A string of fine saves from Mark Arnold in the Coxhoe goal earned him a richly deserved man of match award as he kept the score down to a respectable 4-0 to SAFC.

The second game put us up against South Tyneside Inter who were a strong, physical team but we built on the performance in the first game and the midfield of Joe Nixon, James Gaskell and Lewis Myers started to win more of the ball and we created a number of chances, our first goal seemed on the cards when Joe broke through the Inter defence and was 1 on 1 with the keeper but a crunching challenge from both left Joe injured and the ball going just wide. A quick re-organisation unsettled us and we went into half time 2-0 down. The second half started brighter and we created more and more chances with Kieran Latchum, Keiran Jowett and Rhys Wayman all having shots and chances to get that first goal but luck was against us and we remained goalless. Another fine performance between the sticks earned Mark Arnold his second man of the match as the game finished with a late strike from South Tyneside who ended up 3-0 winners.

The game started well with both teams competing well. Redby settled into their game quicker than Coxhoe and managed to find the net four times in the first half with some good passing play. Coxhoe had to change the team round in the second half with Jodie Borthwick still suffering from flu and Jodie went into goal. Coxhoe played better in then second half and reduced Redby to only a hat full of chance but they still managed to find the net twice befor full time. The score may have been higher but for some good defending from Elizabeth Brown and an inspired performance in goal by Jodie.

A quick start to the game saw Washington go close.Jodie Borthwick swaped with Emily Stores in centre defence with Emily going to centre midfield. The team were passing the ball well and apart from Washingtons ealy shot played most of the first half in Washingtons half. The game began to flow from end to end with Coxhoe's pace up front proving a problem for Washington. Emily Stores went close only for Washington to break and score at the other end. Coxhoe's reply came almost immediately with Emily,Bethany and Megan combining to put Emily one on one with the keeper and shoot low to the keepers right to level the scores. Both teams competed well for the rest of the half with Washington finally breaking the deadlock just before half time with an excellent worked goal passed to an unmarked player at the back post to slot home. Half time 2-1 to Washington. The second half was played in the same manner as the first with both teams having attemps on goal but Washington were able to increase their lead with another well worked goal again to the back post and an individual effort from the centre midfield player who drove the ball with power from the edge of the box giving Coxhoe's keeper no chance. Coxhoe's heads did not drop and they continued to put pressure on the Washington goal with Emily and Bethney both going close. Coxhoe second goal came late on with all Emily, Bethney and Megan cobining well to put pressure on the keeper. Coxhoe finally got back into league action for the first time in a month and could not have faced a tougher task as they faced Swalwell Swifts in an away fixture. Swalwell have been in awesome form this season and had an incredible 100% record (league & Cup) going into this match. Following days of rain the pitch was extremely heavy but this did not prevent both teams putting in a tremendous peformance. It was Coxhoe who started the brighter pressing hard in the difficult conditions and were rewarded when Ryan Mansfield scored the opener after only 5 minutes. Both teams were superbly organised and chances were always at a premium as the game developed into a midfield scrap. In the second half Swalwell came more into the game and found the back of the Coxhoe net midway into the half through a Chris Rouse goal. Despite the conditions both teams showed no signs of fatigue and were both desperate to grab the win but the magnificent defences held out for the rest of the game and the game ended in a fair 1-1 draw.

The girls finally got playing after a two week layoff and started slow for the first five minutes with Deerness having a lot of the ball. They then stepped up a gear and started to dominate with wide players Lucy Hubery and Olivia Wharrier pushing forward supporting Sarah Wilson up front. Coxhoe's first goal was a cool finish from Olivia Wharrier with Sarah Wilson supplying the pass. Ashleigh Wilkie ran all over the pitch winning just about every tackle. The second half was more pressure from Coxhoe which paid off when Sarah Wilson skipped pass players and buried the ball into the net. When Deerness pushed forward it was dealt with easy by Sammy Midgley and Sophie Wilson Defending Stand in keeper Nichole Lawson in goal who barely had a save to make another good all round performance from the girls.

The second match of the was always going to be tough against Hilda Park who were second in the league. Ashleigh Wilkie started in goal and did well to keep the scores level in a tight first half with both sides going close. Sophie Wilson and Sammy Midgley, in defence, needed to be solid and did not disappoint making last ditch tackles as Hilda Park applied pressure. The second half saw Sarah Wilson going in goal with Ashleigh Wilkie going in the middle and just like the first game she did not miss a tackle. Coxhoe started to push forward with both wide players Lucy Hubery and Olivia Wharrier playing well. A good pass to Nichole Lawson saw her go past two players and blast the ball home with a great finish. After the goal Hilda Park applied a lot of pressure and two great saves from Sarah Wilson kept Coxhoe in the game and again Sophie And Sammy were excellent in defence and the whole team work hard to take the points all in all it was an outstanding performance from the girls and a really deserved win ! After two weeks frustration at cancelled games Coxhoe finally got the chance to play some football in a Chairman's Plate encounter with Lambton Lions. United's confidence was high following 4 straight wins in the league and almost from the off they put pressure on the Lions goal with Lee Milburn twice going close after getting clear of the defence. Going into the second half Lambton had their best chance of the game after 2 minutes with a long range drive just sneaking past the post. The longer the game went on the more Coxhoe pressed forward but met with stiff resistance from an excellent Lambton Lions defence. Coxhoe finally found the back of the net but were premature with their celebrations as the referee deemed the goal to be offside. With the game at 0-0 at normal full time extra time was played, the majority of which was in the Lambton half but with no goals forthcoming the match was decided on penalties which went 4-3 in Lions favour.

The match against Jarrow started with Coxhoe applying pressure with wide players Lucy Hubery and Bianca Pryde both pushing forward supporting Nichole Lawson up front while Ashleigh Wilkie bossed the midfield. Nichole Lawson had several chances to score and finally did through a penalty. She was brought down and when the Referee pointed to the spot, she jumped back up and cooly slotted the ball into the right hand corner. Coxhoe hardly let Jarrow out of their half and when they pushed forward Sammy Midgley and Rachel Appleby cleared up protecting stand in goal keeper, Sarah Wilson and the half finished with Coxhoe leading 1-0. Jarrow came forward in the second half and scored and Coxhoe tried to gain the lead again but just could not finish Jarrow off. Olivia Wharrier and Sophie Wilson came on in the second half and did well. It was a good all-round performance from the Coxhoe girls and were really unlucky not to win. Well done again.

After drawing their first game of the day against Jarrow the girls were really up for the game against Leam Rangers. Coxhoe pushed forward, going close with Nichole Lawson, Sophie Wilson , and Olivia Wharrier efforts. Coxhoe pressured Leam and kept the ball well limiting Leam's chances. Second half saw Nichole lawson going into goal and Sarah Wilson coming out. Coxhoe passed the ball well and eventually paid off with Sarah Wilson latching onto Lucy Hubery's through ball scoring Coxhoe's first goal. Leam hit back with an equaliser but the girls kept battling with Sophie Wilson hitting the winner which they really deserved. All in all it was a great all round performance.

Back in September when Coxhoe entertained Durham County in their first ever league meeting Durham hammered Coxhoe 6-1 in a totally one sided game. Durham's ability has seen them climb to second in the First Division while Coxhoe spent the first half of the season struggling to find their feet in the step up to the eleven a side game. However since the start of the year Coxhoe have dramatically improved and went in to the game on the back of three successive wins. As the game started Coxhoe were kicking into a strong wind and Lee Milburn (a signing from Durham County) helped to settle Coxhoe's nerves with a goal after only three minutes of play. Durham started to push forward and were awarded a penalty on the 13 minute mark but Jason Jones in the Coxhoe goal made a magnificent save. Two minutes later Coxhoe were unlucky not to double their lead as the ball hit the post following a defensive mix up. Lee Milburn had the ball in the County net in the latter stages of the half but his goal was deamed offside and the half finished with Coxhoe leading 1-0.Coxhoe went into the second half full of confidence and tone of the half was set when Coxhoe had two shots on target in the the opening two minutes. With the wind against them Durham struggled to get the ball out of their half and their occasional breaks were easily mopped up by the strong Coxhoe defence. Despite their total dominance Coxhoe failed to add to their tally with numerous chances going astray and an excellent display from the County goalkeeper. Ryan Mansfield was awarded the Coxhoe MoM for an increadible 8th time in 9 matches and with confidence at an all time high the boys cannot wait for their next match to come.

The first half started with Redby only fielding 5 players so all the pressure was from Coxhoe. Pressing forward they did everything but score with Sarah Wilson, Nichole Lawson,Olivia Wharrier and Ashleigh Wilkie all going close. Then just before half time the Olivia Wharrier scored at the far post. The second half was all Coxhoe but they could not add to the score. Redby were at full strength in the second half but did not threaten the Coxhoe goal and the game finished 1-0 to Coxhoe with a good all round peformance.

Coxhoe United took a break from their League Division 1 campaign as they visited Washington United to take part in the first round of the Chairman's Shield. Washington have enjoyed a good season to date winning 7 of their 12 games in the Russell Foster First Division. As two of those wins were against Coxhoe United, it was a highly motivated Coxhoe team that took to the Northumbrian Centre pitch, seeking revenge and to try maintain their 100% record for 2007. At first the signs were ominous for Coxhoe as Washington had them on the back foot with a fine display of attacking football and after 10 minutes the Washington attack found the back of the Coxhoe net to make the score 1-0. Coxhoe's doggedness and sheer determination is epitomized in Lee Milburn who has been on fire since his transfer from Durham County and he scored his sixth goal in four matches on the 15 minute mark to level the scores. Coxhoe's right back, Korey McGrath was in tremendous form with probably his finest display in a Coxhoe United Shirt and he made a vital goal-line clearence and the teams went into half time all level at 1-1.In the second half Coxhoe didn't allow Washington to play their free flowing football as they had in the first and the longer the game went on the more Coxhoe gained the upper hand. Midway through the half the ever dangerous Ryan Mansfield was brought down in the Washington area and Macauley Smith cooly slotted home the resulting penalty to take the score to 2-1 in Coxhoe's favour. Washington were unable to break through the solid Coxhoe defence again and the game finished 2-1 to Coxhoe.Evan Teggert is gaining fitness every week after his long lay off with his terrible injury (fractured skull) and managed to play for most of the game. He looks impressive in his new position on the right wing and when he finally regains full match fitness he'll be a huge asset to the Coxhoe team. With three wins out of three in 2007 this well balanced Coxhoe United can hold their heads high.

Coxhoe United under 11s were up against Easington Falcons, a team who had outclassed Coxhoe back in November 2006 in a 4-0 drubbing, so United's progress was going to be put to the full test. Easington enjoyed the lion's share of possession in the opening minutes although it was Coxhoe who had the first shot on goal with a Macauley Smith shot which went wide with 5 minutes on the clock. As Easington continued to apply pressure they hit the post after 8 minutes and went very close at the midway point of the half when a beautifully struck shot just glided past the right post. Coxhoe launched an immediate attack and Macauley Smith struck a long range drive which flew into the back of the Easington net. Coxhoe's lead however was short lived as an Easington shot slipped under Jason Jones in the Coxhoe net to level the score at 1-1. Coxhoe's Lee Milburn cannot stop scoring these days and he grabbed a goal on 21 minutes to restore the lead for United and was desperately unlucky when he hit the post on 26 minutes. Coxhoe were full of confidence going into the second half and they left Easington with a mountain to climb as Lewis Dodsworth scored United's third with a sweet header only 3 minutes into the half to make the score 3-1 in Coxhoe's favour. Easington refused to lie down and continued to attack but with the United defence in fine form with James Marshall and Christopher Cartner making some fine interceptions and Jason Jones in the Coxhoe goal enjoying another tremendous game, the outcome was never in doubt. To beat a team of Easington's quality 3-1 is proof that Coxhoe's under 11s are finally finding their feet in the step up to the 11 a side game as the managment team of Steve Woodward and Kevin Smith continue to work wonders in the development of the team.

Saturday 13th January saw Coxhoe United's Under 10s final match of the season against Willington Whites. The Whites are one of only two teams in the league that Coxhoe Haven't beaten since they were formed one and a half years ago, and depending on the other results Willington had the opportunity to finish the league in 2nd position, so they had everything to play for. They showed their intentions straight away with several early chances, the best of which was on 5 minutes took a full strech save from Lee Saiger in United's net to keep the score sheet clean. It wasn't until the 11th minute that Coxhoe created their first opening with Alex McGrath trying to make the most of United's first half wind advantage with his long range shot drifting high and wide.Ironically, with the wind against them in the second half Coxhoe started to play some better football with a well worked passing manoevre between Andrew Simpson, Alex McGrath and Cameron Holdsworth, with Andrew Simpson's resulting header striking the Willington crossbar in the half's opening minute. The Whites continued to play great football with a fantastic double save from Mark Arnold between the Coxhoe sticks with 5 minutes left on the watch kept the game goalless.Coxhoe refused to lie down and went on to demonstrate the fantastic teamwork that has seen them beat some of the top teams in the league over recent weeks, but on this occasion they were unable to finish the job off.
Final Result - Coxhoe United 0 Willington Whites 0 - Coxhoe's MoM Cameron Holdsworth.
The boys have had a tremendous end to the season, going 150 minutes without conceding a goal, including matches against 4 of the top 5 teams. Hopefully this good form and teamwork will contineu for all the players in the cup league that starts in March.

A hard first game back for the girls against a strong top of the league team, Chester Athletic. Towards the end of 2006 there were signs that the Under 11s were making significant progress with peformances improving week by week. With a new manager (Steve Woodward), a number of new players and Jason Jones in goal, the team was very different from the one that opened the season in September. Evan Teggert was passed fit for play after being on the sidelines for 3 months with a fractured skull and was welcomed back into a side brimming with confidence despite their lowly league position. Whitburn & Cleadon were United's guests and it was Coxhoe who started the brighter with Lewis Dodsworth grabbing a home goal with only 4 minutes on the clock. Coxhoe continued to press forward with Lee Milburn and Macauley Smith going close before Ryan Mansfield grabbed Coxhoe's second on 18 minutes. Whitburn refused to lie down and continue to pressure the United defence for the rest of the half and they grabbed their opener 5 minutes before the break. In the second half Coxhoe totally dominated the game with Lee Milburn and Ryan Mansfield showing great pace and causing all sorts of problems for Whitburn's defence, and it was a second half Lee Milburn hat-trick which wrapped up the points for Coxhoe in their first win of the season.
Final Score - Coxhoe United 5 Whitburn & Cleadon 1. Coxhoe MoM Macauley Smith.

After the Christmas break, Coxhoe United Under 10's were eager to get back onto the field of play in their matches against Boldon Colt Panthers and City of Durham Bees on 6th January 2007. Both these teams sit above United in the Russell Foster League and with no chance of promotion, Coxhoe were playing for pride. Be assured that Managers, Coaches and Parents alike were proud of the magnificent display of football that the boys produced today against some tough opposition. In the first match against Boldon, Coxhoe demonstrated some fantastic football and clinical passing throughout the team, with 2nd in the league Panthers only managing a couple of chances on the Coxhoe net which were well dealt with. Credit for this superb performance must go to each player, with the goal going to Andrew Simpson.
Final Score - Coxhoe United 1, Boldon Colt Panthers 0. Coxhoe MoM - Alex McGrath
City of Durham Bees almost spoilt the party from a corner 4 minutes into the second match, but the Coxhoe defence managed to keep it out. The Bees created a couple of further chances before United got their first shot on 13 minutes, but the second half started brighter for Coxhoe with 5 opportunities to open the score line in as many minutes, but each time they failed to make it count. Durham kept the pressure on, forcing a great Coxhoe save from a well taken Bees free kick with 1 minute left on the clock.

Walbottle Campus Under 10s Tournament On Sunday 7th January
Coxhoe United under 10s were invited to take part in the Walbottle Campus Under 10s Football Tournament.Other squads in the competition included Corbridge, Ryton, Prudue, Walk, Jarrow, Whickham and Blackfynes (some of the cream of the Tyneside leagues) with several of these clubs entering more than 1 team. After a superb but physically tiring day in the Russell Foster League fixtures the day before our boys needed to call upon every ounce of their stamina and strength to ensure a high position after the 4 qualifying matches which would allow them to progress to the knockout stages. They didn't let us down with a 1-0 win against Prudhoe, 1-1 draw against Ryton Cobras, 2-1 victory over Corbridge, but loosing out against Ryton Vipers 0-2.
This put them 2nd in our qualifying league meaning we faced Walk in the quarter final knock out. Although Coxhoe had the lion's share of the chances, the game finished 0-0 which presented us with the dreaded penalty shoot out to decide the winner. It seemed United were destined to exit the competition in this most unfair of ways, but clung on to force sudden death penalties. The pressure was intense for players and parents but Coxhoe held their nerve to come away 9-8 up and proceed to the semi-finals against Blackfyne. Although the boys produced another fine performance in the semi-final, 8 tough matches in 28 hours took its toll on everyone's legs and Blackfyne came through 3-0 winners.Ryton Vipers went on to beat Blackfyne 6-0 in the final, making our 2-0 defeat to them earlier in the day look very respectable.
Well done to the whole team for a full weekend of excellent football. Keep it up in the Cup League starting in March! With performances like this you have no-one to fear.

A slow start to the game for Coxhoe with Whitlease notching the first goal after only 2 mins. The ball was played forward and a powerful shot beat Emily low down. The lead was doubled befor Coxhoe could get themselves back into the game with a well worked goal from the left and a chip into the top right corner leaving the keeper with no chance. A third sloppy goal just befor half time left us trailing 3 -0 . The second half started much brighter with Coxhoe competing for the ball in all areas of the pitch. Beth Garner went close on 2 occasions but could not hit the target. Jodie Borthwith and Beth Garner made good progress in getting forward and began to put presure on the opposition. A break away goal from our corner left us trailing 4 - 0 and we were unable to get the goals our second half display had deserved.

The under 11s featured in an exciting away fixture to high flying Washington United F.C. Coxhoe really needed to be at their best as Washington have been in awesome form of late but their cause was not helped when the defence failed to deal with a tremendous Washington through ball down the centre of the park which resulted in a Washington goal in the first minute of the game. It was hoped that Coxhoe could find the sort of form displayed in last weeks game against Swalwell but they struggled to find any real sort of shape and they were punished when they failed to clear a goalmouth scramble midway through the first half and Washington slotted home their second of the day. On the 25 minute mark Jason Jones donned the goalkeeper's shirt allowing Ryan Mansfield to inject some pace in the Coxhoe ranks. In the last minute of the half a Washington goal looked inevitable when a superbly taken Washington shot was drilled towards the bottom left of the Coxhoe goal but Jason Jones dived the full length of the goal to parry the ball wide in what must be one of the saves of the season. In the second half Coxhoe started to find their shape with Macauley Smith, Ryan Mansfield and Lee Milburn all having shots on target but it was Washington who got the first goal of the second half when some impressive Washington movement around the Coxhoe box left the Coxhoe defence for dead. Coxhoe, for the second week in a row, got better as the game went on and were rewarded when the ever lively Lee Milburn grabbed with a goal from close range. As Coxhoe continued to push forward Washington were always quick to break but the Coxhoe keeper Jason Jones was always alert and came out his box on numerous occasions to clear the danger. Ryan Mansfield was awarded the Coxhoe man of the match for an incredible 5th week in a row.

Under 10s Sat 16 at 11:20 saw Coxhoe United kick off against Easington District Kites - a team currently sitting lower in the league than United, but with games in hand and having the potential to leap-frog them. The match started evenly without any significant goalmouth action at either end until the 7 minute mark when a Coxhoe corner taken by Cameron Holdsworth produced a flurry of activity in front of the Easington goal but United couldn't make it count. This proved to be the only opportunity of the first half, as good midfield and defensive work from both teams kept attacking opportunities to a minimum.A fantastic move for Coxhoe opened the second half, passing between Andrew Simpson and Cameron Holdsworth slicing through the Kites but the resulting header to goal was well collected by the Easington keeper. The best chance of the match came with 2 minutes left on the clock, again from a Coxhoe corner which was scrambled to Jack Thirlaway to shoot, but his hard work and determination throughout the match was not rewarded this time as his shot was flicked over the bar.
Final Result - Coxhoe United 0, Easington District Kites 0. MoM - Cameron Holdsworth
Durham Athletic Clarets faced a more determined Coxhoe team in their second match of the day. Jamie Appleby demonstrated this for United within the first minute when his shot from the left wing skimmed across the face of goal and out for a goal kick. The opener for Coxhoe came 1 minute later when Curtis Bihari shook off the Clarets defence to receive a cross and slam home. Another minute and another Coxhoe goal, this time from Andrew Simpson who was on hand to knock home after a scramble in the Durham box. Chances continued for Coxhoe so it was inevitable that they stretched the lead on 12 minutes, again thanks to Andrew Simpson. The Clarets retaliated straight away, forcing a save from Lee Saiger in the Coxhoe goal just before half time.Durham came out fighting in the second half and would have scored from their early free kick had it not been for Jamie Appleby's headed clearance. This simply inspired Coxhoe to move up a gear and produce some great football, with Lee Saiger in goal passing to Andrew Simpson who slotted through to Cameron Holdsworth and with just the Clarets keeper to beat he produced a great ball to make it 4 for Coxhoe. James Gilson was unlucky not to get his name on the score sheet when his lob struck the top of the Clarets crossbar, but he went on to grab the goal of the day when he intercepted a Durham goal kick, beat the defence then struck a glorious shot to make it 5 with 4 minutes to play. Coxhoe still had to maintain concentration as Durham forced a great double save from Lee Saiger to retain United's clean sheet weekend.

The lads they had a tough match ahead of them today as they were up against the mighty Swalwell Swifts. Swifts started very strongly and only 4 minutes into the game Coxhoe survived a goalmouth scramble when a Swalwell goal looked inevitable. For the whole of the first half the Coxhoe goal resembled "The Alamo" as Swalwell piled on the pressure but superb defending and a magnificent debut in goal for Jason Jones limited Swalwell to 2 first half goals which came on 15 and 26 minutes. After a lengthy half time team talk Coxhoe came out full of confidence and started to see a lot more of the ball with Lee Milburn and the Coxhoe man of the match Ryan Mansfield both making a number of excellent runs. For the final 20 minutes of the game Coxhoe played their best football since moving up to 11 a side and could count themselves unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Despite losing the game the signs are that the under 11s are making signifigant progress and that elusive first win is just around the corner.

Washington Juniors were Coxhoe United Under 10's first opponents of the weekend. This proved to be a tough physical match, with both teams finding it difficult to create chances at first. It was 6 minutes before the first shot on goal - a Stephen Wadge attempt for United drifting wide after his right wing run. Washington responded immediately but their aim was better, beating Lee Saiger in goal for Coxhoe with a low shot drilled into the corner. United now began to find their shooting form, and it took a fine streching dive from the Juniors keeper to deny a tremendous Alex McGrath shot on 8 minutes. The Washington keeper was also called upon just before half time when Coxhoe were unlucky not to grasp the equaliser with any of 3 shots taken in quick succession. The second half started in the same manner as the first with neither team managing a shot until a 10 minute Coxhoe corner was scrambled out of the box for Stephen Wadge to pick up the scraps with a looping ball which was well collected by the Juniors keeper. Three minutes later the Washington shot stopper was in action again to palm out a goal bound Cameron Holdsworth free kick, and with 1 minute left to play, another chance for Coxhoe passed by when an Andrew Simpson shot glided marginally wide.
Final Score - Washington Juniors 1 Coxhoe United 0 - Coxhoe MoM Alex McGrath.
The supporters didn't have long to wait as long for the opener in Coxhoe's second match when City Of Durham Scorpions broke through the defence and scored within 2 minutes. One minute later a fantastic Jack Thirlaway blocking tackle prevented Durham doubling their tally, but from there Coxhoe started to build their momentum and created an equaliser on 7 minutes when a clever Andrew Simpson "off the ball" run drew thew Scorpions defence away fom the centre of the penalty box leaving Alex McGrath unmarked to slam home from a Cameron Holdsworth corner. Coxhoe had to maintain concentration in the latter stages of the first half as the City team kept them pinned in their own goal area, but the defence stood strong to retain the 1-1 half time scoreline. Both sides continued to show some good determined football in the 2nd half, with Coxhoe almost taking the lead at 2 minutes after a Cameron Holdsworth shot was initially tipped onto the crossbar to rebound uot to the advancing Coxhoe attack, but the resulting follow up was well claimed by the keeper. Coxhoe now had a hunger for victory and continued to test the Scorpions keeper with some great team play which eventually led to their 2nd from Andrew Simpson with 5 minutes left of normal time. Durham were determined not to let the points slip away and kept Coxhoe working hard until the final whistle after 2 minutes of injury time.

After missing last weeks matches due to weather conditions, Coxhoe United under 10's were looking forward to this weekends fixtures against Byers Green Bees and Farringdon Detached. This was well demonstrated with the opening goal against Byers going Coxhoe's way 2 minutes into the match when a well struck shot from Alex McGrath proved too powerful for the Byers keeper to hold onto. Another two fine attempts in the next 5 minutes followed from Alex, but unfortunately neither was converted into goals. The second half continued to provide chances for Coxhoe, the best being a terrific shot from Joe Nixon, but United failed to add to their tally, and Byers didn't manage to break through the Coxhoe defence.
Final Score - Coxhoe United 1, Byers Green Bees 0. MoM - Alex McGrath
Full of confidence after the first match, but with the wind against them, Coxhoe opened the scoring against Farringdon Detached on the 3 minute mark when James Gilson gambled on a ball beating the Farringdon defence which left him through on goal for a relatively easy tap in. James was also involved in the second goal for Coxhoe with his right wing run and cross finding Andrew Simpson in front of goal to convert on 6 minutes. The 3rd Coxhoe goal, coming on 11 minutes, was another James Gilson attempt, beating the keeper by placing it low into the corner. In the second half, Farringdon started to turn up the pressure, pulling one back early after their attacker received the ball in plenty of space, leaving him with just the Coxhoe keeper to beat and their second goal came with just 3 minutes left to play, resulting in a tense end to the match. Coxhoe continued battling to retain their maximum 6 points from the weekend, with a notable acrobatic volley from Andrew Simpson and two close calls from Curtis Bihari - 1 well saved on the line and the other marginally wide.

Coxhoe went into the game against Washington Juniors with confidence but this was soon shattered when a free kick was given on the edge of the box for a foul. Washington's no 11 launched the ball over the heads of everyone and into the top corner. Only two minutes later it was two nil after Washington worked their way round the defence and slotted home from close range. A change of personel at half time improved our performance with Bethany Garner, Jodie Borthwick and Megan Vasey going close. The weather played havoc with the weekends football and only the Under 11s played in an away fixture against Sunderland 24/7. Coxhoe started the brighter of the 2 teams and were very nearly a goal up after only 5 minutes when Macauley Smith hit the bar from a very tight angle. Coxhoe continued to press forward and Lee Milburn was unlucky not to score his first headed goal for the club as the ball squeezed passed the right post. Lee Milburn's pace continued to cause problems for Sunderland's defence and he was eventually brought down in the penalty box after 13 minutes. Macauley Smith stepped forward to take the resulting penalty and cooly placed the ball passed the Sunderland keeper. Despite Coxhoe's dominance Sunderland looked dangerous on the break and Korey McGrath starting his first game in goal for United was called upon to make some good saves. On 17 minutes as Coxhoe pushed forward Lee Milburn found himself in front of an open goal but his kick sailed over the bar. On the 27 minute mark Coxhoe had a lucky break as Sunderland conceded an own goal to make the scoreline 2-0. It was so nearly 3-0 on 29 minutes as Coxhoe's man of the match (for the third week in a row) Ryan Mansfield shot but once again the ball squeezed just past the right post. Sunderland refused to lie down and managed to score with virtually the last kick of the half, to make the half time scoreline 2-1.The second half saw a change of keeper as Lewis "Dodsy" Dodsworth went between the sticks, and was impressive as he controlled everything in his box and pulled off a tremendous save with 40 minutes on the clock. 5 minutes later Ryan Mansfied showed a piece of true magic as he collected the ball in defence a ran the full length of the pitch before unleashing his shot forcing a superb save from the Sunderland keeper. Sunderland were coming more into the game and were starting to look dangerous and their determination payed of when a long ball cruelly bounced over Lewis Dodsworth to level the scoreline. There were no more goals in the match and the hugely entertaining game between two fiercely determined teams finished with a 2-2 scoreline.

Hopes were high that last weeks good form from Coxhoe United under 10's would continue so that 6 points would be gained from their encounters with Tyneside Juniors and Brandon United, especially as both teams were sitting lower in the league table going into this weeks matches. After gritty performances from both teams in the first 7 minutes of the opening match against Tyneside the deadlock was finally broken by Coxhoe with a short corner collected by Jamie Appleby who had time to compose himself and strike a fine shot. More first half chances came for Coxhoe, the best was the result of another Alex McGrath corner finding Jack Thirlaway who turned well and struck, forcing the Tyneside keeper to parry the ball away. The Juniors best chance of the half came on 12 minutes after a scramble in the Coxhoe goalmouth finally went wide for a goal kick. From the 2nd half kick off Coxhoe continued to be a threat and it was another corner that allowed them to double their tally on 17 minutes when Andrew Simpson was perfectly positioned in the box to volley home. Two quick chances for Tyneside followed but on each occasion Lee Saiger was quickly off his goal line to clear the danger. After this Tyneside pressure, Coxhoe realised that the 2 goal cushion wasn't necessarily sufficient to seal the 3 points, so up stepped Cameron Holdsworth with one of his typical surging right wing runs and teasing crosses into the box which resulted in him claiming Coxhoe's 3rd goal on 19 minutes. Several more glorious chances came Coxhoe's way before the full time whistle, the best was a free kick after Joe Nixon was brought down on the edge of the box which saw Jamie Appleby's dead ball rise marginally above the Tyneside cross bar.
Final Score - Coxhoe United 3, Tyneside Juniors 0. MoM Andrew Simpson.
In a positive frame of mind, fresh from the victory against Tyneside, Coxhoe had created 3 great chances in as many minutes, but it wasn't until the 11th minute before they were able to make one count from a tremendous Cameron Holdsworth strike. Sixty seconds was all it took for Brandon to cancel this advantage after a fine free kick destined for the top right corner forced a fantastic initial save from Lee Saiger which was collected by the Brandon attack and slammed home. The second half saw chance after chance for Coxhoe be denied by a solid Brandon defence and a notable performance from their keeper.
Final Score - Brandon United 1, Coxhoe United 1. MoM Andrew Simpson.
Under 9s
The under 9s were very unlucky in their game with Birtley Town as they found themselves 1-0 down with Birtley scoring with their only attack of the half. Into the second half Coxhoe continued to play the better football but could not get the equaliser despite great peformances from Jordan Harker and Anthony Wharrier in the Coxhoe attack and Faye Mullen who grabbed Coxhoe's player of the match award.
Final score Coxhoe United 0 Birtley Town 1 - Player of the match - Faye Mullen
In the second match of the day Coxhoe were up against third placed Willington Whites who were outstanding and attacked the Coxhoe goal throughout the game. Only an outstanding performance by the Coxhoe goalkeeper, Zahan Bomanji prevented the Willington score running into double figures.Final score Willington Whites 6 Coxhoe United 0 - Coxhoe's MoM Zahan Bomanji Under 11 Girls In their first match of the day against Washington Juniors the Coxhoe girls got off to a good start with pressure on the Washington goal. However it was Washington who were the first to score with the goal being kicked out ot Emily Stores hands and into the net. Coxhoe continued to dominate the first half and the long awaited equaliser came with a good turn and shot from Bethany Garner. The second half started as the first with Coxhoe again dominating play with Megan Vasey, Bethany Garner, and Jodie Borthwick all going close. The closing minutes of the game was all played in and around the Wasington area with Coxhoe winning 3 corners in a row. Megan Vasey again came close in the dying minutes but played the ball wide with only the keeper to beat. A well deserved point that so easily could have been three.
Final score Coxhoe United 1 Washington Juniors 1 - Player OTM Bethany Garner
Coxhoe got off to a good start in their second match aginst Washington Lioness and held on until the 10th minute when a neat 1-2 beat the Coxhoe defence to open the scoring. Coxhoe did not take advantage of a couple of chances and paid the price when Wahington put 3 more into the Coxhoe net before the half time whistle. The second half followed a similar pattern and with Coxhoe tiring towards the end of the game conceded a further 4 goals.

Under 11s
The under 11s game saw them in an away fixture against a strong Easington Falcons who were fresh from an impressive 4-1 win over Lambton Lions the previous week. From the off it was Easington who took the upper hand with Ryan Mansfield in the Coxhoe net having to deal with attack after attack. Ryan was in terrific form but even he could do nothing about the first goal which came on the 15 minute mark. It was a beautiful goal struck from outside the box. Easington struck again 3 minutes later with a second as Coxhoe struggled to find their passing. There were no more first half goals and the first half whistle blew with Easington 2 goals to the good.In the second half it was all change Christopher Cartner reverted to his more familiar left midfield role but it was to no avail as an Easington third hit the back of the Coxhoe net with 40 minutes on the clock. In an effort to rescue something from the game, Korey McGrath donned the goalkeeper's shirt allowing Ryan Mansfield to join the attack and Coxhoe started to play their best football of the game but Easington never took their foot off the pedal and added a fourth with 5 minutes left to play. Throughout the game Easington's Kyle Reay, celebrating his 11th birthday was a constant thorn in Coxhoe's side.Every time he got the ball he looked dangerous, with his lightning speed and his ability to get passed players.A big plus for Coxhoe however, was the performances of Ryan Mansfield and Korey McGrath in the Coxhoe net, because, despite the score line, they were magnificent.
Final Score - Easington Falcons 4 Coxhoe United 0 - MoM Ryan Mansfield.

Coxhoe United and Shotton Boys FC didn't only have to play each other in their Russell Foster Division 2 match on Saturday 11th November, they both had to contend with the windy and rainy conditions too. Nevertheless both teams knuckled down but it was Coxhoe who struck first, with a James Gilson shot on 3 minutes when he picked up the loose ball in front of goal after an initial Curtis Bihari attempt was cleared off the muddy goal line. United were unlucky not to double the advantage 30 seconds later when a Cameron Holdsworth strike went wide after some fantastic passing throughout the team to slice through the Shotton midfield. Shotton responded to the Coxhoe pressure with a great pass on 12 minutes that put their attacker through on goal but a last ditch block from Stephen Wadge in the Coxhoe defence foiled their plan. The second half started without any let up in the weather or the Coxhoe pressure, when Alex McGrath ran almost the whole length of the pitch and launched a fine shot which forced an equally fine Shotton save, with the rebound to Mark Arnold resulting in a goal kick. The wet pitch conditions played a part in the second goal for Coxhoe as a routine save from an Alex McGrath shot bobbled and skidded through the Shotton keeper's legs to make it 2-0. Coxhoe's third goal started with a defensive tackle from Stephen Wadge who produced a great searching ball finding Andrew Simpson in front of goal to tuck it home through the keepers legs. A fantastic save from the Shotton keeper prevented a 4th which was destined for the top right hand corner after great contact with Alex McGrath's boot with 5 minutes left to play. Coxhoe kept the pressure up with a powerful goal bound shot from Stephen Wadge and 2 great chances from James Gaskell, 1 slightly wide and the other saved on the line. Again, the Shotton keeper stood strong on full time to prevent the elusive 4th Coxhoe goal from a well taken Jamie Appleby shot.
Final Score - Coxhoe United 3, Shotton Boys FC 0.
With Coxhoe in this sort of form, it was a pity that the 2nd scheduled match against third place Willington Whites was called off due to the weather conditions as a thrilling encounter would have resulted.

Under 11s
Coxhoe Under 11s game was an away fixture against Mill Hill Boys on a windswept pitch. Coxhoe kicked off into the gale force wind but went a goal behind after only 5 minutes when the referee (and Mill Hill Boys manager) deemed the goal to be onside. Mill Hill continued to have the lions share of posession but the introduction of Lee Milburn in the latter stages of the half spiced up the Coxhoe attack and it was Lee who scored the equaliser at with 27 minutes on the clock. It was somewhat of a suprise that, despite a injury free first half, 8 minutes of injury time were played but Mill Hill were not able to take advantage of the wind and the half finished 1-1.In the second half Coxhoe saw much more of the ball but it was the home side who once again took the lead after 16 minutes. Coxhoe continued to push forward for the equaliser and, with numerous stoppages for injuries in the half, could have been forgiven for expecting a signifigant amount of injury time to be played, but it was not to be as the full time whistle was blown on the stroke of 30 minutes. It was a dissapointing result but a tremendous display from all the players in difficult conditions.
Final score Mill Hill Boys 2 Coxhoe United 1 - MoM Macauley Smith.

Saturday 4th November was always going to be a tough weekend for Coxhoe United under 10's as the opponents, Hetton Juniors and the all conquering Swalwell Swifts, were above us in the league. This proved to be true as United were immediately on the back foot against Hetton, forcing Lee Saiger to save a low shot within 30 seconds. The pressure on United continued with several more chances for the Juniors, the best resulted in a goal line clearance from Jamie Appleby on 5 minutes. Great football continued with chances at both ends but the first half ended goalless.Coxhoe piled on the pressure in the second half, initially keeping Hetton pinned into their own end but the opener for United finally came mid point in the second half with a great pass from James Gilson out to Cameron Holdsworth who made a tremendous run up the right wing beating a couple of Hetton players before launching a shot from an almost impossible angle which squeezed though the keepers legs and across the line. Hetton rose to the challenge and forced a great save from Mark Arnold, standing in goal for Lee Saiger after an injury forced his substitution earlier in the game, but unfortunately a well guided lob from Hetton proved unstoppable with 4 minutes left to play, bringing the scores level. United could almost taste victory several times with some tremendous right wing runs from Cameron Holdsworth but each time his efforts were foiled either by the woodwork or the Juniors keeper.
Final score - Coxhoe United 1, Hetton Juniors 1. MoM - Cameron Holdsworth
Swalwell Swifts' reputation precedes them, not having lost a game throughout the league season for last year as well as this one, and with an awesome goal difference chalked up. Thirty five seconds into the match saw them add to this with a well taken shot from the right wing. Coxhoe defended doggedly to keep the Swifts at bay with a tremendous save by Mark Arnold from a Swalwell corner. Seeing the Swifts keeper was well out of position off his goal line, a quick goal-kick almost allowed United in to equalise but the Swalwell defence got back in numbers to relieve the pressure. The constant Swalwell attack led to the inevitable second goal on 14 minutes which gave them a more comfortable score line going into the second half. This started in a similar vein with the Swifts hitting the United crossbar within 10 seconds and 2 minutes later they added a third to their tally. Coxhoe heads started to go down and Swalwell continued to show their class, scoring another 2 goals without response before the full time whistle.
Final Score - Swalwell Swifts 5, Coxhoe United 0. MoM - James Gilson

Coxhoe started the match against Lumley FC with Ryan Mansfield in goal and it looked as if he was going to be in for a quiet afternoon as Coxhoe totally dominated the opening minutes of the match. Coxhoe's dominance paid off when Lee Milburn slotted the ball into the Lumley net ten minutes into the game. Coxhoe let their concentration drop and allowed Lumley more possession and were punished when the equaliser came after 17 minutes. Towards the end of the half Coxhoe failed to capitalize on a number of chances and the half time whistle blew with the score at 1-1.In the second half Coxhoe again enjoyed the lion's share of possession and when Lewis Dodsworth scored it looked as if United were going to be in for their first league win of the season but deep into injury time Lumley hit an unstoppable free kick to make the final score 2-2. The lads can count themselves unlucky not to win this one but it was their best peformance of the season with Ryan Mansfield looking impressive in the Coxhoe net and Lewis Dodsworth's goal celebrations much better than his "belly flop" efforts of last season.
Final score - Coxhoe United 2 Lumley FC 2 - Goals Lee Milburn, Lewis Dodsworth - MoM Christopher Cartner

The Under 10s went into this weekend's matches desperate for points to move further up the table after some disappointing results recently. Their start against Farringdon Detached ( sitting 4 points behind Coxhoe but with 2 games in hand) could not have been better with a break down the left wing from Cameron Holdsworth and a low driven shot into the corner of the Farringdon net opening the scoring within 15 seconds. Farringdon responded well and had a period of pressure around the 7 minute mark forcing a series of corners against United but were unable to capitalise on them. The Farringdon keeper was then forced to make a save after great link up play between Andrew Simpson and Cameron Holdsworth. Once again Farringdon responded well forcing Mark Arnold to make a great save between the Coxhoe sticks but the clearence resulted in another Coxhoe attack and Cameron's second goal of the dayon 10 minutes. Two minutes later Farringdon managed to pull one back with a well taken taken low strike that beat the Coxhoe keeper resulting in a 2-1 half time score line.United started the second half just as brightlr as the first with a pass from Alex McGrath in central midfield out to Cameron Holdsworth on the left wing who glided in a perfect cross to find Andrew Simpson in front of goal to knock in the third for Coxhoe. Within a minute Coxhoe went on the attack again, forcing a corner from which a fourth goal was scored and claimed by Cameron Holdsworth to complete his hat trick. Several more chances came Coxhoe's way including a well taken shot towards the top right hand corner of the Farringdon goal from James Gilson and a well guided Stephen Wadge cross from the right wing connecting with James Gaskell who struck narrowly wide, but neither team managed to add to the scoreline.
Final score - Coxhoe United 4 Farringdon Detached 1
Goals Cameron Holdsworth x 3, Andrew Simpson - MoM Cameron Holdsworth.
Riverside were the Under 10s second opponents of the day. When the teams met on the first day of the season the spoils went to United in a hard fought 1-0 victory. Since then, Riverside have enjoyed 9 victories and are currently sitting fourth in the league. Coxhoe showed they had the intention of repeating the result of their first meeting with an immediate left wing attack from Cameron Holdworth and another attampt from him 2 minutes later whaich drifted over the bar. Great end to end play continued from both sides but neither team managed to open the score in the first half.Into the second half and a superb save from the Riverside keeper prevented a well taken powerful Alex McGrath shot which was just starting to dip under the bar, and with 10 minutes left on the clock a Curtis Bihari shotfor Coxhoe hit the side netting. Good play continued with chances at both ends but the Riverside defence and Lee Saiger, Jack Thirlaway and Stephen Wadge in defence for Coxhoe hung on determinedly to their clean sheets.
Final score Riverside 0 Coxhoe United 0 - MoM Cameron Holdsworth.

The Under 11s played their first away game of the season when they travelled to Washington to play against Lambton Lions. Coxhoe started the game brightly and were unfortunate not to go into the lead when Coxhoe's MoM Macauley Smith's shot just sneaked to the left of the Lambton goal. It was the home team however, then went on to score with their first attack of the game. The lead was doubled after 25 minutes and Coxhoe went into the break 2-0 down. The second half was a carbon copy of the first with Coxhoe enjoying plenty of possession with new signing Lee Milburn looking very impressive up front alongside Macauley Smith but it was Lambton who scored both second half goals making the final score a rather flattering 4-0 to Lambton Lions.
Result - Lambton Lions 4 Coxhoe United 0 - MoM Macauley Smith

With just 10 points from the last 10 matches and sitting 9th in the league, Coxhoe were desperate for some wins to move them back up towards the promotion spots, especially as both this weekends opponents were below them in the table. The first match against Durham Athletic Clarets started brightly enough with early chances at both ends, but Coxhoe were left to pick the ball out of the net after a 6 minute Durham strike into the right hand bottom corner of the United goal. The Clarets keeper was on fantastic form preventing many chances for Coxhoe to draw level before half time. The second half provided Coxhoe with many more opportunities to claim the equaliser but chance after chance went unrewarded and the Clarets keeper managing to maintain his clean sheet.
Result - Coxhoe United 0, Durham Athletic Clarets 1. MoM - James Gilson
Coxhoe's second opponents, Easington District Kites, were an unknown entity to United as the 2 teams had never met before. Chances came for both sides in a scrappy first half with the best opportunity from the Kites hitting the cross bar, but neither goal was breached in the first 15 minutes. Into the second half, and Coxhoe began to pick their game up, stringing together some better passing and creating some great opportunities but yet again were unable to deliver the final ball.
Result - Easington District Kites 0, Coxhoe United 0. MoM - Alex McGrath

City of Durham Scorpions were the under 10's first opponents on Saturday, who were sitting directly below Coxhoe in the Second Division going into the weekends matches. From the kick off, the Scorpions demonstrated that they had their eyes on the 3 points required to draw level in the table. Within 10 seconds Durham had tested Mark Arnold in the Coxhoe goal, forcing him to tip over the bar after a shot from just within the Coxhoe half. The pressure on Coxhoe continued for much of the half, with Durham's opening finally coming on 11 minutes from a corner which was tapped into the corner of the Coxhoe goal. United responded immediately with a series of good passes, which were intercepted by the City team who turned defence into attack to increase their tally a couple of minutes before half time.Into the second half and Durham maintained the momentum they had established in the first 15 minutes by increasing the scoreline to 3-0 after a right wing run and a well taken shot. Coxhoe refused to give up, with a determined James Gilson making some good chances, and even beating the keeper on one occasion, only to be disallowed for a hand ball infringement. Even with all the good efforts of Coxhoe, the final score was probably a fair reflection of the game.
Result - City of Durham Scorpions 3, Coxhoe United 0. MoM - James Gilson
A motivational team talk between matches paid off as it seemed a different Coxhoe team that took to the field to face Washington Juniors for the second match of the day. Several chances were created by Coxhoe before Alex McGrath's powerful low shot from the right wing beat the Washington keeper on 4 minutes. Alex continued his hard work a minute later beating several players and crossing to Cameron Holdsworth who's shot went narrowly over the crossbar. More chances came to Coxhoe, with the Washington keeper being equal to them, but the United defence also needed to maintain concentration when a Juniors attack almost grabbed the equaliser going into the half time break.Coxhoe kept the pressure on into the second half with Andrew Simpson being unlucky not to score from a diving header just after the re-start and a halfway line lob from Alex McGrath a minute later being palmed away for a Coxhoe corner. Chances kept coming for United but Washington also created a golden opportunity to equalize 3 minutes into the second half after a shot from the left wing was denied by the Coxhoe post. The 2nd goal for Coxhoe eventually came from Cameron Holdsworth who received a throw in from the right to turn past the Washington defence and blast past the keeper. United didn't sit back on the 2 goal cushion and continued to test the Juniors defence but couldn't extend the lead.
Result - Coxhoe Unite 2, Washington Juniors 0. Mom - James Gilson
Under 11s Girls
The girls game against Durham County started positively with an attack from Coxhoe but Durham counter attacked and left the Coxhoe midfield streched resulting in a goal after 2 minutes. The game followed a similar pattern for the rest of the first half with Coxhoe playing some good football and competing well but then being stung on the counter. The second half was a tighter game and eventually Coxhoe forced a goal through sheer endevour. It was an improved performance but with a disappointing result.

The day also saw the girls up against Washington Juniors. It was a poor start to the game for Coxhoe with Washington kicking off and passing the ball to their number 11 whose long range dipping shot from just inside the Coxhoe half beat the keeper and the girls found themselves 1-0 down with under a minute on the clock. Coxhoe responded well and pressed hard for the rest of the half with Washington only troubling Bethney Beecham in the Coxhoe net on the stroke of half time but she saved well low down. The second half was dominated by Coxhoe with Bethany Garner, Abigale Grifiths, Magan Vasey and Katy Hubury all going close but despite their domination could not find a way passed the Washington keeper

Coxhoe entertained high flying Hilda Park and it was apparent from the kick off why they were top of the league. Thay pinned United into there own half from the off and it was a full 10 minutes before Coxhoe got a shot on goal through Macauley Smith. A hugely impressive Hilda Park went into the half time period 3-0 up although Macauley Smith went close when he hit the woodwork. In the second period Ryan Mansfield donned the goalkeeper's shirt and despite an impressive performance could not prevent Hilda Park from hitting the back of the Coxhoe net twice more.

Coxhoe started their first match against Byers Green Bees very positively with a James Gaskell near miss within 1 minute. Many more Coxhoe chances followed, including a great One-Two between Mark Arnold and Jamie Appleby but they had to wait until the 9th minute to open the scoring with a fantastic right wing run from Jamie skipping through the Byers Green defence before unleashing his clean goal bound shot. Byers Green created some opportunities towards the end of the first half with a good ball across the face of goal on 11 minutes which beat everyone including the Byers Green attackers. Coxhoe were unlucky not to add to their score before the half time whistle with a Joe Nixon shot hitting the post and a Jack Thirlaway strike rising above the bar.The second half saw a Coxhoe three man substitution to rest some weary legs in the windy conditions, and this saw them continue to dominate with some impressive passing, resulting in a second Coxhoe goal from Cameron Holdsworth 4 minutes into the half. Alex McGrath had his share of goal mouth action with a header hitting the post and an athletic overhead kick drifting above the bar, but it was third time lucky for him as he was on hand to knock in a loose ball after the Byers Green keeper couldn't hold onto a well struck Curtis Bihari shot with 5 minutes left on the clock. Coxhoe's fourth came from Jamie Appleby when his shot was initially tipped onto the post, only to trickle back across the line out of the reach of the unlucky Bees keeper.
Result - Byers Green Bees 0, Coxhoe United 4. MoM Alex McGrath.
City of Durham Bees were Coxhoe's next opponents, and the first few minutes saw chances at both ends. A fine save from Lee Saiger on 5 minutes prevented Durham opening the scoring after their attacker found himself clear of the Coxhoe defence. This was followed by a left wing surge from James Gaskell who knocked it back to Cameron Holdsworth to centre the ball into the path of an advancing Joe Nixon, who was unlucky not to connect. A hard fought first half ultimately ended goalless but Coxhoe came into the break with the upper hand.Into the second half and Durham's attacking force increased it's tempo. A great block from Stephen Wadge in front of goal proved to be his last action of the day as an awkward fall forced his substitution. The deadlock was finally broken by the Bees when a shot was judged to have crossed the Coxhoe line with 5 minutes left to play. United clawed a goal back 2 minutes later as a Cameron Holdsworth corner found its way over the line in a crowded box, but 2 quick Durham goals in the dying moments ensured all 3 points went to the Bees.

Coxhoe got off to a poor start with Whitelease scoring 3 times in the first 5 minutes. The team started to get together after that with Elizabeth Brown, Sophie Whiting and Ashleigh Stores developing a good understanding in defence. The second half started better for Coxhoe with Abigale Grifiths making a number of solo runs down the wing. Coxhoe scored their first goal of their league campaign from a good clearence by Elizabeth Brown to Bethany Garner who passed the ball to Abigale Grifiths. Abigale then ran from the halfway line beating 2 defenders and played the ball passed the goalkeeper. Whitelease then put more pressure on the Coxhoe goal with Bethney Beecham making a string of good saves. Whitelease scored 2 further goals as Coxhoe pushed forward trying to gat another with the final score being 5-1 to Whitelease. It was a great improvement from the Coxhoe girls to the 10-0 defeat at the hands of Whitelease just 4 weeks ago.

Saturday 30th September at 11:20am saw the Under 10's kick off against Boldon Colts Panthers who were sitting second in the league going into this weekends matches. Boldon stamped their authority on the match straight away, forcing a corner within the first 30 seconds and continued to test the Coxhoe defence until Alex McGrath collected the ball and ran from deep inside the Coxhoe half to make a clean strike from the edge of the Boldon penalty box forcing a save from the Boldon keeper on 6 minutes. The Panthers responded with a goal from a corner 1 minute later and then doubled their advantage on 9 minutes.Cameron Holdsworth brought fresh legs to the team after a substitution on the 10 minute mark and made his intentions clear with an immediate right wing attack resulting in a near miss for Coxhoe.Boldon came close to going 3 up but for the finger tips of Lee Saiger deflecting a shot onto the upright, which was then converted into a Coxhoe attacking move that saw Cameron Holdsworth hitting the post of the Boldon goal on the half time whistle. The second half saw more attacking play from Boldon, but as the match went on Coxhoe became stronger until an Alex McGrath single handed attempt grabbed one back for Coxhoe 4 minutes into the half. United now started to give a better account of themselves, but they saw chance after chance go unrewarded. Once again, the final 5 minutes had everyone's nerves on edge with opportunities to draw level coming from James Gilson, Alex McGrath and Cameron Holdsworth, but the Boldon defence was equal to everything Coxhoe could throw at it.
Final Score - Bolton Colts Panther 2, Coxhoe United 1. MoM - Alex McGrath.
Brandon United were Coxhoe's second opponents of the weekend. The two teams have played many times before in friendly, league and cup matches, always resulting in a hard fought, well balanced, entertaining match. Today's game was no exception, with shots from Jamie Appleby and Joe Nixon within the first two minutes, and a Brandon corner cleared from the line 2 minutes later.Coxhoe took the advantage after 5 minutes when Jamie Appleby was on hand to score from a rebound off the Brandon keeper after he had made a fine save in a one-on-one situation with Alex McGrath.Coxhoe continued to attack for the rest of the first half but were unable to add to their tally. The second half opened with more great play from both teams, but Brandon began to get more chances as the half progressed, leaving Coxhoe defending doggedly to secure the 3 points.

Coxhoe United under 11s played in the first round of the league cup and found themselves up against an in form Washington FC. Despite the fact that Washington are a couple of leagues below Coxhoe they have been in awesome form winning all 3 of their league games and getting 14 goals in the process.Coxhoe started the brighter but were unable to turn the pressure into goals and they paid the price when Washington scored with their first attack after 10 minutes. The lead was short lived when Macauley Smith levelled the scores. Washington went on to score two more goals in the first half and Coxhoe found themselves 1-3 down in a game they dominated. Coach Kevin "The Hairdryer" Smith had a "discussion" with the team at half time to fire the team up. The team talk worked as Macauley Smith scored two goals to complete his hat trick and level the game and it was Ryan Mansfield who finally put Coxhoe into the lead. Washington never gave up and pressured Coxhoe trying to find an equaliser but the Coxhoe defence held tight and the final whistle blew with Coxhoe winning the hugely entertaining cup tie 4-3.
Mo.M - Macauley Smith.
Under 10s
The Under 10 team's initial match was against Tyneside Juniors. They proved to be a strong team last season, but within 2 minutes Coxhoe were 1 up due to an unfortunate own goal from a Jamie Appleby corner. This advantage was cancelled out on the 5 minute mark when a loose ball in the Coxhoe box was hit home by Tyneside. Other chances of the first 15 minutes included a break away attack from Tyneside which required a fine save from Lee Saiger and a halfway line effort from Mark Arnold which went narrowly wide. Into the second half, and again Coxhoe started strongly with some excellent passing creating a well worked goal, with an initial Andrew Simpson shot rebounding from the Willington keeper into the path of Jamie Appleby to tap it home. Again, Tyneside responded to bring the score level within 1 minute. Chances kept coming, first for Coxhoe with Cameron Holdswoth connecting with a Joe Nixon throw-in causing a goal mouth scramble and clearance, then a Tyneside lob drifting narrowly over the Coxhoe bar, but the spoils went to Tyneside due to a well struck low ball into the corner of the Coxhoe goal with 1 minute left to play.
Result - Tyneside Juniors 3, Coxhoe United 2. MoM - Cameron Holdsworth.
Another tough match followed against Willington Whites with good attempts from both sides in the first 2 minutes. Willington were the first to score with some good play through midfield on the 8 minute mark but attempts from Jamie Appleby and Andrew Simpson for Coxhoe towards the end of the half went unrewarded. The second half saw more pressure from Willington, with Lee Saiger pulling off a fine save in a 1 on 1 with the Willington attack to prevent a certain goal, but that 2nd goal eventually came for Willington 4 minutes into the 2nd half. Coxhoe went on to create more opportunities with some great work between Andrew Simpson and James Gilson, and grabbed a goal back after some determined midfield work from Jack Thirlaway passing wide to the left wing where a defence splitting pass to the edge of the box allowed Curtis Bihari to grab one back for Coxhoe. At 2-1 to Willington, the final 5 minutes was nail biting, with Stephen Wadge making a run up the right wing to cross to James Gilson making some anxious moments in the Willington net, then another shot from James being denied by the keeper seconds later, but Willington hung on to retain that scoreline.
Result - Coxhoe United 1, Willington Whites 2. MoM - Jack Thirlaway.

The under eights were up against tough opposition in Soccerena. United started the game the stronger and bossed the first half but limited chances on goal resulted in Coxhoe failing to capitalize after good spells of possession. Some excellent play by the Soccerena ended up with Coxhoe going into half time 1-0 down. The second half started off with Soccerena finding the back of our net again after some good passing play and a mixture of good play and lapses in our concentration led to united losing 5-0, a score line which could have been greater if not for the performances of Sam Brown, Nathan Haigh and Sam Marshall at the back. The whole team gave 100% and played out of their skin despite the score line.
Soccerena 5 Coxhoe United 0 - MoM Sam Marshall.
The second game was against Washington United Jaguars and again Coxhoe were the stronger side of the two sides, but few chances were created and Washington took the lead in the first half with a well worked goal. The under 11s were at home against Durham County and it was Coxhoe who started the brighter and their early domination paid off when a Ryan Mansfield shot hit the back of the Durham goal. Macauley Smith very nearly made it 2-0 but was denied by some excellent Durham goalkeeping. There then followed a 20 minute period of intense Durham pressure with United unable to get the ball out of their own half. After hitting the Coxhoe post Durham struck with 2 goals. Only towards the end of the half did Coxhoe come back into the game with Korey McGrath hitting the post and Macauley Smith went desperately close to scoring on a one on one with the keeper but just hit the ball wide with the last kick of the half.A couple of minutes into the second half Durham were awarded a penalty and Daniel Hall, in the Coxhoe net and playing only his second league game for Coxhoe, was unlucky not to save as he got both hands on what was a quite superbly taken penalty. At 3-1 up Durham's confidence was high and they started some excellent passing movement and a fourth goal swiftly followed. Coxhoe were left with a mountain to climb when injuries to midfielder Ben Hall and Daniel Hall in the Coxhoe goal left Coxhoe not only a man down but also without an experienced goalkeeper. Christopher Cartner went from left back into the Coxhoe net and managed a couple of good saves before being beaten with a long range lob. Durham got another late goal to make the final score 1-6 in Durham's favour.
Result - Coxhoe United 1 Durham County 6 - Goal Ryan Mansfield - MOM Christopher Cartner

Coxhoe Under 10's first match of the weekend was against Shotton Boys FC. Coxhoe started brightly with James Gilson heading wide from an Alex McGrath cross after 2 minutes, then forcing the Shotton keeper to save 1 minute later. Some good midfield work from James Gaskell, Cameron Holdsworth and Alex McGrath kept Shotton at bay for much of the half but their keeper was equal to all shots Coxhoe could fire at him. After the break Shotton came out stronger with Lee Saiger leaving his Coxhoe goal-line to beat the Shotton attack and claim the ball in a one-on-one after the first minute of the second half. Coxhoe continued to battle in Midfield and Defence with chances going begging in both goals, until a Shotton corner 2 minutes from time went in-off the Coxhoe upright. Heads didn't go down and the pressure continued into the dying seconds when a Coxhoe corner was cleared as far as the edge of the Shotton box where Jack Thirlaway was on hand for Coxhoe to fire home the equaliser with the last kick of the game.Result - Shotton Boys FC - 1, Coxhoe United - 1. MoM - Curtis Bihari.
The second match was against Swalwell Swifts, last seasons league winners with a very impressive goals record. From the kick off, Swalwell immediately turned on the pressure but Coxhoe battled and kept Swalwell at bay. A great attacking move from Coxhoe saw Curtis Bihari get within an inch of opening the scoring as he hit the cross bar, but Swalwell continued to show their class they were first to react to a loose ball in the Coxhoe box to open the scoring to finish the first half 0-1 to Swalwell.Into the second half, and Coxhoe continued to soak up the pressure and create some chances of their own with a fantastic Cameron Holdsworth effort being tipped over the Swalwell crossbar. Swalwell then followed with 2 quick goals - the first was a great ball that sliced through the Coxhoe defence, and the second was a well placed lob. Bearing in mind the impressive record of Swalwell, there is no disgrace for our lads in this result. This hard fought and battling performance goes to demonstrate how much progress they have made since last season.
Result - Coxhoe United 0 Swalwell Swifts - 3 MoM Cameron Holdsworth

The first match was against Hetton, and they showed Coxhoe some early first half pressure. Coxhoe then started to get into the swing of the match, demonstrating some fantastic passing, but the Hetton Keeper was in great form, tipping an Alex McGrath free kick over the bar and saving a point blank Andrew Simpson shot. Hetton also showed some great through-ball manoeuvres, so a 0-0 half time score line was a fair reflection of the game. The second half started brightly with a tremendous 20 yard shot from Andrew Simpson only a whisker above the bar. Andrew showed great determination to fire home Coxhoe's first goal of the season 2 minutes later. From then on, they played with greater confidence and were unlucky not to win a penalty with 5 minutes left on the clock, but made it 2-0 when James Gilson got on the end of an Andrew Simpson pass with 2 minutes left.
Final result Hetton 0 - Coxhoe United 2. MoM - Andrew Simpson.
The under 10s second match against Riverside was another 2 ended affair with some fine passing, but neither team managing to break the deadlock in the first half. Riverside piled on the pressure and a late goal line clearance from Jamie Appleby made sure the honours went to Coxhoe.
