HETTON LYONS FC 5 - COXHOE UNITED 1
Coxhoe went into the game with only 1 friendly and were rusty to start. With the addition of 3 new players the team were a little disjointed and allowed the opposition space in front of goal. Bradley Bambling and Josh Cairns linked well to get a consolation goal with Ben Davison making a number of good saves to keep the score line down.

COXHOE UNITED 0 - HILDA PARK MAGPIES 5
The second game started as the first with the opposition grabbing a quick opener. Coxhoe heads went down and they found themselves 3 down after 5 mins. The formation was reshuffled to push Josh into defence and the team looked more balanced with James Raw playing more in midfield. The second half saw Coxhoe look a better side only to be punished by two excellent goals from Hilda Park. Excellent second half display from Ella Beecham, Bradley Bambling and Josh Cairns with Brandon Simpson showing a clean pair of heals to the opposition only to be undone by some good defending from Hilda Park.

COXHOE UNITED 2 - LEAM RANGERS 0
Coxhoe started the game well with the team buoyed due to the return of Micheal Gaskell. The game started off tight with both teams competing well. The Coxhoe defence of Josh Cairns and Michael Gaskell were solid clearing any danger. The game started to go Coxhoe’s way mid way through the first half with Bradley Bambling bossing the centre midfield and Brandon Simpson making good runs down the right. The breakthrough came after some good pressure form Coxhoe resulted in 3 corners in quick succession. The first one saw Brandon hit the side netting; the second was knocked behind for the third. The third saw Brandon hit a sweet curving ball which took everyone by surprise and lodged in the back of the net.
The second half saw Ella Beecham go in goal with Ben Davison coming off after a knock to his leg. The second half saw Coxhoe make all the running with Josh and Michael again keeping the opposition forwards at bay. Excellent pressure from Bradley, James, Lewis and Brandon allowed Bradley to lift a ball over the keeper and into the net. Excellent work rate from the whole team.
Man of Match – Josh Cairns
Goals – Brandon Simpson, Bradley Bambling x 1
COXHOE UNITED 0 - OUSTON JUNIORS 0
The second game started well with both teams coming close to an opener. Ella Beecham made some strong challenges up front and Ben Davison made two excellent saves. The defence again was very strong with Josh Cairns relishing the role. Bradley Bambling again bossed the midfield. Although Coxhoe had a lot of the possession the final ball into the box eluded them as the Ouston defence also stuck to their task doggedly. Coxhoe tied a little to the end but a well earned draw for both teams.
Man of Match – Bradley Bambling
A good weekend for the Under 8 Juniors – 2 clean sheets and a win !
SATURDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER 2009
WALDRIDGE PARK BLUES 1 - COXHOE UNITED 1
Coxhoe started very brightly and had good possession. Bradley Bambling,Brandon Simpson, James Raw and Ella Beecham all pressing the ball. Coxhoe had a chance to go in front when after a good run into the box Ella Beecham was brought down to give Brandon the chance to score from the spot. Brandon struck the ball well but on this occasion too high hitting the bar and out for a goal kick. Waldridge took hart from the miss and not long after broke free down the right hand side. The shot came off the post only to rebound to another Waldridge player who slotted home. The game ebbed and flowed with Coxhoe seeing more of the ball and they eventually levelled after good work by Bradley Bambling who used his strength to force his way into the box shooting low past the keeper. The second half saw both teams press for the winner but Josh Cairns, Michael Gaskell and Ben Davison kept the opposition at bay. A debut for Niel Frampton who showed good strength up front.

COXHOE UNITED 0 - WASHINGTON AFC TIGERS 1
Coxhoe again started the game well with pressure on the washing goal from the start. Again however they were unable to force the opener and a break away by Washington saw then steam down the right hand side and slot a ball under the advancing Ben Davison. Coxhoe never gave up and Ella Beecham, Bradley Bambling and Brandon Simpson all came close to levelling the score. Nial Frampton replaced Michael Gaskell in defence in the second half with James Raw making way for Lewis Heggerty. Coxhoe continued to force the play but Washington nearly caught them out on the break only for Josh Cairns Ben Davison to snuff out the attacks. Ben Davison was called into action twice more and pulled of two brave saves towards the end.
MOM Ben Davison
Good effort all round and unlucky not to get a point from both games.

WILLINGTON YOUTH WHITES 0 - COXHOE UNITED 0
The game started with the wind blowing a gale and the players finding hit hard at times to stay on their feet. Both sets of players battled hard with both coming close to opening the scoring. Ben Davison in the Coxhoe goal made a great diving save to his right after Willington had latched onto a loose ball with Michael Gaskell tidying the loose ball. Brandon Simpson and Bradley Bambling continued to show they are strong players and only some last ditch defending and a strong wind prevented them opening the game up. The second half saw Coxhoe playing against the wind but Michael Gaskell and Josh Cairns were reading the game well and clearing the danger. Ben Davison again made a great stop 3 minutes from time to prevent Willington taking all three points. Both teams played well in the conditions.

COXHOE UNITED 0 - RYTON BLUES 2
Coxhoe started the second game with the wind in their faces and at times it was gale force. Ryton were using the conditions to their advantage playing some good balls on the ground for the forwards to latch onto. The opening goal came from a teasing ball down the left wing which was only just kept in. Our defence were left open on the right and when the ball was played in two forwards were on hand to put the ball beyond Ben. The second goal came 1 minute later with a goalmouth scramble that saw Ben save twice before it was stabbed home. Coxhoe kept battling and with 1 minute to go to half time Bradley Bambling took a knock and was replaced by Brandon who immediately took control of the game forcing Coxhoe’s first shot on goal. The second half saw Coxhoe take the game to Ryton only getting into Coxhoe’s half of the pitch 3 times and Ben not touching the ball. Ella Beecham, Bradley Bambling and Brandon Simpson all came close with the best chance of the game falling to Michael Gaskell. He latched onto a loose ball in the box and struck it well with his right only for a defender to get a leg in the way and deflect it for a corner. A good battling performance with Coxhoe unlucky not to get something out of the game.

SOCCARENA GALAXY 0 - COXHOE UNITED 2
Coxhoe went into
the game with confidence after playing well last week. The game started with Soccarena
making the early running and the defence of Michael Gaskell and Josh Cairns was tested
a number of times but they and keeper Ben Davison coped well. Coxhoe began to gain
control of the game with Bradley Bambling, Brandon Simpson and James Raw working
hard in midfield while Ella Beecham continued to pressure the Soccarena defence with
some crunching tackles. The game turned midway into the first half when, after a
spell of good pressure Brandon Simpson let go a powerful shot from just outside the
area which was just going wide when Ella Beecham managed to get a touch ballooning
the ball into the air and over the keeper into the goal. Coxhoe upped their work
rate again and not long after a free kick from a foul on Brandon Simpson saw Josh
Cairns take the ball. The free kick was just inside the Soccarena half and Josh struck
a beautiful left foot drive into the bottom right hand corner. The second half saw
Soccarena come back into the game and two good saves from Den Davison held the game
at 2–0.
Goal Scorers – Ella Beecham, Josh Cairns

COXHOE UNITED 0 - RYTON BLUES 1
Coxhoe again started the game looking to do better than last week when they lost to Ryton in blustery conditions. They started well with pressure on the Ryton goal from the kickoff. The Ryton keeper however did not read the script and although the ball never crossed the line, it was heart in mouths on a number of occasions. Again however they were unable to force the opener and a lofted clearance just before half time from half way saw the ball bounce awkwardly in the area and bounce high over the Coxhoe keepers head and into the goal. The second half saw Coxhoe again force the play but the Ryton defence and keeper kept the clean sheet.
MOM James Raw
Good effort all round and unlucky not to get at least a point from the second games.

COXHOE UNITED V LEAM RANGERS GREEN
Coxhoe started the game brightly into a strong wind playing the ball on the ground. Coxhoe began to press the game but the Leam defence was strong and Coxhoe struggled to break through. The first goal of the game came from Leam Rangers with Coxhoe pressing forward the ball broke and it was 4 onto two with Michael and Josh struggling to cope. The ball was played through the middle and the two defenders both hesitated allowing Leam Rangers to gain the advantage. Ben Davison rushed out but the ball was pushed under his body and into the net. Coxhoe again pressed form the off and Bradley Bambling played a nice through ball to Ella Beecham who controlled and turned with the ball running towards goal. A strong challenge from behind saw Ella stumble and the ref awarded a free kick. Josh Cairns coolly strolled up and slotted the ball high into the right hand corner. The second half proved very much as the first with both teams having a good possession. The deadlock was broke however with another move involving Brandon, Bradley and Ella which again saw Ella fouled just outside the box. Josh again came forward but this time his shot was deflected but luckily by Bradley Bambling who saw it roll into the bottom left corner with the keeper unsighted.
Good work all round
Scorers – Bradley Bambling x 1 and Josh Cairns x 1

WASHINGTON AFC TIGERS V COXHOE UNITED
The wind was again in Coxhoe’s face for the first half and Washington were taking advantage of the conditions. Jack, Josh and Ben however held fast in defence with Michael Gaskell taking up a right midfield roll for a change. Michael was the closest to opening the scoring in the first half with a shot that narrowly missed. Brandon and Bradley also came close just before half time. The second half saw Coxhoe up their work rate with Bradley, Jack and Brandon showing a clean pair of heel to the opposition. Again a free kick was awarded to Coxhoe just outside the box after a good strong run from Brandon. Josh again stepped up but this time the post was to prove his downfall with no one being able to latch onto the loose ball.
MOM Jack Richards
Another good weekend for the team.
